RETURNING CHARACTER OPTIONS
There are two options. You may opt for the (adjusted) Retirement Plan or New Game +.
Retirement plans are intended for characters that you don't really want to play anymore, or at least not as the fulltime commitment that Kohaku characters tend to be. Retired characters join the canon, often taking the place of an already existing NPC.
New Game + is for characters that you intend to keep playing. New Game + automatically advances the character to high levels with a good chunk of their class progression completed. This is meant to reflect their growth during the six month time skip.
Hades agents are not eligible for either a retirement plan or new game +.

New Game +
New Game + is a special bonus offered to all returning characters. New Game + is not free. It costs all the money on your current account. For some of you, this isn't much money at all. For others, this is a big price to pay. New Game + gives the following benefits to ONE (only one!) of your characters: - They advance to Sol City.
- Six of their pokemon can be automatically raised to lv90.
- Trainers receive the first SEVEN badges (all but the sea Badge).
- Breeders jump to 250 eggs hatched.
- Rangers receive all 18 basic signs. They receive an additional random 10 legendary signs.
- Researchers jump up to 500 dex entries. They may only collect scourge entries after New Game +.
- Researcher pokedexes are otherwise wiped clean. They may collect all scourge entries anew.
New Game + is meant to put your character in a position to pursue lv100+ content. *Researcher dex entry collection has been revamped, so it's difficult to find a good starting spot for New Game +. This is the awkward compromise. |

(ADJUSTED) RETIREMENT PLAN
The (adjusted) retirement plan is a special bonus offered to all returning characters. It is basically the same Retirement Plan in the FaqDex, but accounts for growth during the time skip. Retirement plans are not free. It costs all the money on your current account. For some of you, this isn't much money at all. For others, this is a big price to pay. A retirement plan gives the following benefits to ONE (only one!) of your characters: - They unlock all areas
- Six of their pokemon can be automatically raised to lv100.
- Your lv100 pokemon can be fully evolved.
- Trainers receive all badges and two seals (of your choice).
- Breeders jump up to 500 eggs hatched.
- Rangers receive all 18 basic signs. They receive an additional twenty random legendary signs.
- Researchers have completed all 718 entries for the normal pokedex.*
A retirement plan is intended for characters that are no longer actively fighting the scourge. It is more generous than New Game + because it assumes the characters will no longer progress much further, at least not quickly. A retired character joins the site canon. There are a variety of ways this is possible. The list below is only some examples. - Take a FREEBIE role. Freebie roles are the NPCs that give away free stuff at a particular board. You can replace an existing NPC, or we can try to come up with a new, unique role for your character.
- Take a DUTY role. Duty roles are the NPCs that must thread with characters as part of their progression. Gym leaders, professors, top rangers, and others are examples of duty roles. Duty roles require you to be exceptionally active.
We are particularly looking for NPCs to exist in Dream World locations (which I intend on sprucing up), or to take the place of the ranger outpost, researcher station, and breeder society NPCs that were thrown up very quickly during Kohaku 2.0. (In fact, breeding societies don't even have NPCs.) Retired characters may continue to progress, but they're not really supposed to. I will have a Very Unhappy Talk with you if you choose a retirement plan and immediately bust into Land of Nightmares as a badass. |

A HAPPY MEDIUM
You may also take the New Game + option and also take on a retirement role. This effectively means you take New Game + and also the regular retirement plan. |
