He was raised by the father of a close friend, a man who he grew to recognize as his own father as time passed and a girl that he came to love as a sister. And over the years - he doesn't know when it started, and doesn't want to probe his memory to find out - those feelings became deeper, and what started out as the only way they knew to stay together forever became far too real, far too soon. He made her a promise, though, and he never broke promises, so he then made a promise to himself that he would keep that promise to the one he loved (did he know what love was back then, though?) He asks himself if he knew, knew that things would turn out the way they did or if fate just has a cruel way of dealing with things. It wasn't ever for the money, the fame and fortune that he had, just a genuine love (but was it really?) and a misunderstanding that he thinks he took too far. It was always a boy's duty to take over the family business - everybody taught him that, from his parents to his 'father' but he forgot, perhaps still tells himself to forget that that man, as much as he cared and taught him, was never someone he could truly call 'dad'. He couldn't understand, so he took it out on her, pride holding back the apologies and the frustration that he couldn't be part of a family that he'd always wanted for his own. When he was good and sure that she probably hated him - and he did convince himself that he detested her as well - he left, because staying around them was painful, too painful to bear. Left them, left her life. Left her. It's been years now - the scourge didn't affect him, because he's lost all attachments he's ever had but himself, and he's still alive - and he sees the eos as opportunities. Opportunities to do things with his life, find a purpose, maybe even show his real parents that he's become something they could never have even dreamed of. And maybe, just maybe in one of his travels he'll run into her again, and find all of the answers he's been searching for: he'd like that.
