This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Today was the day. The day she get her first Pokemon. Sylvania took a deep breath and prepared herself before she will knock the door. She is a bit nervous right now, frankly. Sure she handled Pokemon in the past, but getting her own is quiet different. Most trainers her age usually get a Pokemon much younger then she is right now.
Frankly, she is a bit worried. The Scourge and what not happening in Kohaku. It frightened her. Still, her eyes filled with determination. She got to do something. Clad in her coat, sunglasses, and hat, she was pacing in front of the lab. Finally deciding to make up her mind, she walked up to the front door and gave a knock.
“Hello?” Sylvania said in a calm tone, but that didn't show her fear or nervousness deep down to show. Still, she kept her voice smooth and calm, those acting classes and learning to be on stage helps in these moments. She gave a soft knock on the door again. “Is this where Eon program trainers get a Pokemon?”
She then took a deep breath, as in to calm herself and bring out her resolve. "If so..Mind if I come in and look around?" With that, she waited for an answer. Now, she know some people march in and settle themselves in. But her family always told her that being polite can help out anyone, and give out a good impression. Let's put that idea to use right now. Who knows? It might help out in the future. And so she waited outside the door.
It had been a long time since the virus had gotten at, and every time a trainer or researcher came in, he felt as though they were one step closer than before. Alternatively, he felt as though he was sending trainers off to their death. Sometimes the guilt from this, and guilt from surviving Pax by being chosen to leave kept him awake at night.
The professor had bags underneath his eyes, he heard a knock on the door, and carefully, he placed the liquids that he was experimenting with away. He had to do it slowly for fear that the liquid might spill and dissolve the ground or something terrible like that. You never knew what would happen when you played with chemistry.
By the time that he had reached the door, the woman - at least t sounded like a woman - had already asked to come in. Woman... woman, he was expecting one today, wasn't he? Ms. Hawkthorn he believed her name was. He opened the door, and gave her a smile. "Yes yes, come in. You're miss Hawkthorn, yes? I've been expecting you. So you've signed up for the eos program, you're a trainer, correct?"
He led her in, and gestured for her to sit in a chair, as he sat in the one right across from her. "Ms. Sybil and Mr. Krauss should be in soon with the pokemon, but before than, why don't you tell me about yourself?"
“Thank you,” Sylvania said as she entered the lab and looked around the place with a mix of awe yet criticism. This is the first time she been in a regional professor lab, and in some way, it was just as she pictured it. However, some parts of the lab were surprising to her. ‘Beats my parents research lab by a mile though,’ Sylvania thought with a chuckle. Yep, her parents lab was much messier and disorganized.
She blinked at the sound of her name. “Yes, I am Ms. Sylvania Hawkthorn.” With a small smile as she nodded and gave a soft chuckle. “And yes again, I am part of the Eos Program as a trainer.” She looked around and carefully sit down on a nearby chair after he gestured to sit in one. “That's fine. I can wait a bit before I get my Pokemon. I been out of the region or a while you see.” Sylvania said calmly as she glanced at the professor in front of her. He wanted to know about her? Maybe some basic info could be a good idea. Who knows? Maybe he will pick some Pokémon compatible with her somehow.
“Alright, I was born to a pair of trainer/researchers in Neiro City and the middle child of 5 kids.” Sylvania said calmly as she lightly drummed her fingertips on her leg. “When I was 10, my family began moving around a lot. Researching and seeking new heights I suppose.” At that a small smile appeared on her features, as she relaxed a bit. “My folks enrolled me into an Academy for aspiring trainers, breeders, and other such groups. I was always interested more in the battling though, so I took trainer classes but I was tempted by sometimes to be a Researcher or Breeder.”
“Other then that, I graduated from my Trainer class among the top 10.” Yes, she was among the 4th or 5th spot of her class out of 20 or 30. She didn’t know who was higher than her, but she was satisfied with her rank. She never was the competitive with other type of person, which sadden her a bit. For she never had a rival or anything like that. “The academy was more along rental Pokemon and studying though. So I never actually had a Pokémon officially before.”
“Then I heard some problems in my hometown and home region while I was doing… my previous job. So I decided to go ahead and try to do something and try to help out a bit. That is why I am here.” With that, she gave a soft smile and nodded her head a bit. She turned to the professor and gave a shrug. “I hope that is satisfactory. I am willing to answer more. I would ask questions, but I currently don’t have any of my mind.” Words: 478 Notes: Tag mod!
Oh my, she didn't leave much out, huh? Cypress didn't mind, hearing an outline of someone's life was never really a bad thing. "Big family, huh. Doesn't seem like you've had a boring day in your life, especially considering you've seemed to see most of the regions." He smiled. "Ah, having researchers for parents seems nice - but then again, that is my passion. Perhaps I wouldn't like as much if I was born into it."
"You went to an academy, but you've never had a pokemon before? That's a shame. They're really a joy. Well, you'll be getting one today and considering your experiences I'm sure you'll make a wonderful trainer, miss Hawkthorn." He slouched in his chair as he thought. "No that's satisfactory, I'm very glad that you're brave enough to come back to fight the scourge."
"Don't worry about it, I'm not really that interesting." With that Ms. Sybil came in, a briefcase floating behind her. He supposed his other pokemon was a bit busy.
"Hello, I'm Ms. Sybil, and in this briefcase just happen to be ten pokeballs, you may pick one. They're already vaccinated, so you don't have to worry about the hades virus with this one." She communicated with Sylvania telepathically. The briefcase floated in front of the woman and opened slowly, inside were ten pokeballs. Each of them had a tag on them telling what pokemon laid inside.
"Yeah, well. Maybe after this whole event, if I make it one piece..I might give a hand at helping out a professor or something." Slyvania chuckled and gave a shrug. She eyed the Pokeballs in front of her and then pointed at the one with the Oddish. "I would like that one please. Thanks."
