This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

GRAND OPENING !
Welcome to KOHAKU REGION's grand opening! If you're interested in joining, come check out our grand opening giveaway!
elias came here feeling quite apathetic about this whole "let's find stones to discover a pokemon's potential" crap. but there's no possible way that delilah can get a mega stone before he does so he's here. in a cave. semi-ticked off that absolutely nothing had happened yet. elias had never enjoyed caves; why stay with the rocks in a damp, cold clearing when you could be in a forest, or better yet, in a city.
he has absolutely no drive whatsoever besides his ever-great need of superiority over other people. but that was enough to make him at least look around. but not really. but he looked around. but not really.
why was he here again....? @any mod (aggronite would be nice....but uh, i wouldn't mind like...charizardite either?)

It sits on its haunches in the room, rocking back and forth, fascinated by the sleek tablet in front of it. Little known, there are equally little trainers that visit the labyrinth at all - more have been flowing in recently, is it some new trend, it wonders?
This room is difficult to get to - all the rooms are, they have to be lucky, but never lucky enough, it seems. When finally, finally a trainer comes in and it leaps up, in greeting, they turn him down ('Oh, sorry, I'm not interested in this stone, wrong room.') and ask to be shown to the correct room. But it's bound by secrecy not to talk, so they usually leave and continue exploring(sometimes they meet a second time, sometimes not, usually not). The only way to amuse itself is to pretend that the stone tablet is another living being, and they have staring contests daily, every minute, every second.
Suffice to say that the aron is bored out of its mind. Perhaps it's justification for the way it runs circles upon circles upon circles around Elias (when the trainer enters) before finally coming to a (almost complete) stop, eyes shining.
'Hi, trainer! Would you like to play a game with me? Please?'
only a step into the room and- BAM. there's something dashing about, circling his feet. elias panics for a moment, letting out a gasp and tensing. but then it stops. ah, it's an aron. well this must be the right room then, okay elias thinks, looking straight into the eyes of the aron.
it's asking him to play a game? he has searching to do. "no, sorry." simple. he'll leave it at that. but those aron's eyes....they're staring right into his soul. "maybe. but i have to find something first..." elias just stares at the small pokemon. it's probably lonely. it probably doesn't have anyone to play with. poor guy.
"okay, fine. i'll play." he sighs, bending down towards the small creature. "what are we playing?" citrus

It's disappointed - if its face is any indication -, but only for a moment. The moment the trainer agrees to play the aron is off and running again, shouting what appears to be joy, in bursts. This time, it goes around the entire room, just to burn off the excess excitement so that it can be both professional and have fun at the same time. It halts in front of the stone tablet, then stares at Elias, not the least bit winded.
'Okay, let's play hide and seek! ..Sort of hide and seek!' The aron beckons Elias over, waving a stubby paw at the tablet behind him, then points in front. There are three exits - the one that Elias just came in from, one on the right and one on the left. 'So you first gotta face this tablet, close your eyes and count to ten - no peeking, either! I'm gonna hide in one of those three rooms, and you have to guess which one I'm in!' The aron tries to be mock serious, but it's too excited, and only succeeds in being slightly more subdued than its previous behavior.
'I'm gonna hide four times! If you guess right all four times, I'll give you something special! And if you don't...' It seems to contemplate this, tilting its head sideways. '..well, I'll give you something special, too, but there'll be a catch. Oh, but that's a secret! What d'you say?'
(Elias has three choices - right, middle, left. After he chooses, I'll roll a dice on my post. 1-33 = left 34-66 = middle 67-99 = right 100 = Elias is right no matter what he chooses all number ranges are inclusive. if Elias guesses right, he moves on. for every time Elias guesses wrong, he moves on, but something will happen. you don't know what will happen(but it'll become pretty clear after the first time or so). good luck!
* you can start guessing on your next post or choose not to. up to you!)
elias listens to the rules half-heartedly. that's the way he does everything these days. nothing really matters these days. you just fight, kill, sleep, fight, kill and eat. hell, the only reason he's here is to try and make the fighting and killing easier for his aggron.
as the aron finishes it's monologue, elias quickly realizes- arons don't usually talk. half of him wants to address it and get an answer, but the other half wants to get the prize and get out. and that side has a bit ore influence than the other. "...okay. i guess i'll start counting then." he sighs, and in his monotone, lifeless voice, counts to 50 and his eyes pop open.
where are you, he wonders, deciding to head to the right. he keeps his eyes open but doesn't look too closely. elias doesn't actually wanted to get invested in this game. nope. he'll just play four times and see what sort of dumb little trinket he wins at the end. citrus

The new room is just like the previous one - three exits, one stone tablet engraved into the wall. In fact, the only thing decidedly different about this room is that it's dimmer than the last, and lacks a distinct bubbling, out-of-control, energized aron. It's silent for a few moments, then, the entire room begins to shake, and the aron's voice blares through all four walls like its hooked to some sort of loudspeaker.
'Wrong way, trainer! I'm gonna hide in a different spot now, count to ten and guess again!' As the last syllable fades away into echoes, the quaking also recedes, and there's only silence, save for the faint, far-away noises of metal scrabbling on concrete.
(The correct room was the middle room. Something has happened! 3/4 rounds left to go. guess again!)
The trainer moves, but the room never changes, always static. This time, it starts shaking as soon as Elias steps foot in the room, the intensity striking compared to the last. When the aron's voice blares through the four walls it's louder, deeper, and somewhat...different?
'Wrong again! Try harder, trainer!' It's getting difficult to determine whether the pokemon is disappointed or excited. Not that it matters much.
(The correct room was the middle room. Something has happened!
elias is starting to get a weird feeling about this....the aron didn't seem at all normal. and the rumbling of the floor and walls didn't seem like they were coming from the aron itself. there must be some other force working against him here.
man, he has bad luck. he exits the room and just stares at the three rooms. there's nothing unusual about any certain one- he finds them to be identical, honestly. and there is no intuition; nothing calling him to a specific place.
well, he's checked the right, he's checked the left. might as well check the middle. so he walks in. citrus

This new room is dead silent. If a pin dropping sounds clear as day, Elias's footsteps sound like a tyrantrum rampaging across a field.
(Or an aggron.)
Then, suddenly, the room explodes into noise, shaking so hard that the stone tablet splits down the middle - a giant, ugly splinter of a split. There is no aron when the room shakes, no aron when the last echoes die away. Nothing speaks this time - perhaps the noise covered its voice, maybe not. It's likely that nobody will ever know, or bother to find out.
(The correct room was the right room. Something has happened! 1/4 turns to go. the next guess will be Elias's last guess.)
wrong. crap. elias is beginning to think that the game has some significance. perhaps the ruins are testing him. well he's not interested in challenges- and he doesn't want to play games either. so he exits the room, and counts to ten, but then just waits in the center room.
it makes him angry. frustrated. he can't play a stupid little game of hide and seek. really, there's got to be foul play here, i mean it's an aron. it can't be that smart. right?
"i'm so done with this game." he calls out to the aron. "i have more important things to do!" and he waits, ears open for a sound from the aron. citrus

'Aw, but the game was just getting fun!' A deep, rumbling voice rattles the walls, and all of a sudden the aron is behind elias, and the exits of the room have disappeared, leaving only four walls and the steadily shaking ground. As the aron tilts its head to one side, it begins to pulse, one, two, three times in quick succession.
In the blink of an eye, the aron is gone. 'Let's see, you guessed zero out of four hiding spots right!' The lairon doesn't seem too downcast by this. It stares at Elias with its sea blue eyes and the room shakes once, abruptly. The crack in the stone tablet widens, the ugly splinter of a thing growing.
'That's not too good, I did say that you could have a prize even if you didn't get all four rooms right, but there's a catch. The aron's high-pitched voice has morphed into something distinctly deep, and as an aggron, it now seems to almost fit, yet still miss something at the same time. It lifts up a steel-plated foot, then slams it onto the ground, creating a thick cloud of dust that cloaks the room. When it clears, something similar but not quite the same stands in its place.
'This is the catch. Let's play a new game, okay?' This time, it's clear that there's no choice to back out, all means of escape are sealed off. The room is deathly silent, and the stone tablet has cracked in half on the wall in two ugly, jagged pieces as the aggron tilts its head up and roars a battle cry.
(if you're curious haha, here's what happened in the game! 0 wrong - aron does not fight, elias gets the prize automatically 1 wrong - aron fights elias 2 wrong - lairon fights elias 3 wrong - aggron fights elias 4 wrong - m. aggron fights elias
mega aggron demands a battle! elias can have the first move.)
he doesn't speak at all- but this is certainly jaw-dropping. a first stage pokemon, a pokemon proven to evolve into a lairon, just mega evolved into it's final form. elias's slipped a pokeball off his belt and he opened it up. :sarcanine: focus badge mimics xspeed arcanine uses agility arcanine uses flamethrower arcanine uses hone claws citrus

The aggron rolls its shoulders. It takes a deep breath, relaxes, eyes gleaming in the dim lighting of the enclosed room. This is more its element, not those games of hide and seek, testing decision against hesitation and doubt.
Power, strength, the ultimate defense, it has it all. This trainer shows potential, and with the high expectations that the aron of minutes past had, the aggron holds nothing back, because otherwise the game would be boring.
it intrigues him that this aggron just....got bigger. and weirder. mega evolution was supposed to be something that only happened with domestic pokemon, right?!
arcanine is hit by mud-slap! (acc debuff is cancelled out because of hone claws) arcanine is under the effects of agility 2/2 (+speed), hone claws 1/1 (+attack) arcanine uses flamethrower arcanine uses close combat (+attack boost) arcanine uses agility citrus
