This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

delilah raises an arm over her head, cracking her neck. she doesn't like bacchus -- far from it, actually. her hometown is gone, destroyed by scourge, and the place it used to inhabit is nothing more than a playground for monsters.

alex trailed out of the shadows, bright blue hair standing out against the dusty, brown landscape that was bacchus town. he was always one for showy things though, and didn't like to be the beast in the shadow every day. he drew the electric sign with his approach, dragging attention to him. "why hello there." his voice was velvet, a seductive smoke entrailing delilah.
if his pokemon didn't work, his charm certainly may. "let me sing you a song. the song of the dead, the song of your people." a grin. "they'll be dead soon enough. only those worthy of the scourge will stay."
the virus hummed.
sonata slithered along the ground, a shadow before erupting out into a physical form. he cackled.
her hand is on the pokeball the moment she sees him -- him in all of his blatant, brazen glory. she returns the smile, recalling years spent around those with the same voice, same tone (years that are far gone in a world such as theirs), and bends in a mock curtsey.
"i appreciate the offer," she laughs, as if it weren't one of death and destruction, "but my world is silent."
her music was lost to her long ago -- and her smile is no longer charming, or nice, or even a smile at all. delilah's mouth curves up to expose gleaming teeth in a bloodthirsty grin. "maybe i'll show it to you."

alex frowns. swears. sonata is not ready for this, who the hell was this girl. he watched as sonata sank back into the ground, retreating as a shadow to alex's shadow. "well, you're pretty good. it's a shame you chose the wrong side." he waved. "i guess i'll see you around. have fun. consider this your victory, it certainly is."
inside, the virus hummed. it was angry. the virus didn't like losing.
delilah bows to her audience. "i wish i could return the sentiment," she smirks, "but i don't think you'd make it past the first test." he's weak, weaker than she had thought. she waves at his retreating form, despite the fact that he can no longer see her. "i never want to see you again," she calls cheerily. "alive, anyway!"
because, if she's being honest, seeing an agent's dead body tossed into a fire pit is fine by her.
