history
Pre-Scourge:
~Born into an average, middle-class family with a trainer mother, stay-at-home father, and five-year-old brother.
~Gained a younger brother when she was two.
~Grew up fairly normally – was home-schooled by her father (with the occasional trainer lesson from her mother) and spent her free time playing and dreaming with her brothers and a tight-knit group of neighborhood kids.
~Somehow managed to get trapped in a storage chest at a friend’s house when she was about six. Her friend got his parents to help her out as soon as possible, but the event was still traumatizing and she remains terrified of cramped spaces.
~Turned ten and was enrolled in a special five-year trainer’s school, like her older brother and mother before her. Her younger brother would join her once he turned ten.
~Not long after starting trainer’s school, she watched her older brother become a full-fledged trainer. This made her jealous, but she was happy for him and looked forward to the day when she could start her own journey. Her younger brother is upset about the prospect of being left behind, so Taryn decided to wait until he’d graduated from trainer’s school before starting her own career as a trainer.
Mid-Scourge:
~Some time after her graduation, her older brother suddenly dropped contact with the family. Fearing the worst, the family focused all their efforts on trying to find him, but nothing worked.
~Her mother informed the family of the scourge as soon as she learned what’s happening. At her father’s urging, her mother retired so he would know she’s safe. The family’s efforts to locate the missing brother increased, but all attempts are unsuccessful.
~After the prolonged lack of contact, her elder brother suddenly showed up back home, his body covered in burns, gashes, and assorted scars. He was also missing most of his right ear, as well as all his pokemon. He spent all his time locked in his room alone when he could get away with it, was beyond preoccupied when forced to interact with his family, and refused to talk about what happened.
~Upset at what happened to her brother and tired of hiding, Taryn applies as a trainer, hoping her actions can help to put a stop to the scourge and prevent other people from dying or suffering the same fate as her brother. Her family is upset about her decision, but they understand her motives and eventually give her their blessing.
Now:
~Taryn is currently making her way to Cypress Laboratories to get her starter pokemon and join the efforts to rid the region of the scourge.
