The skyscrapers in the city of dreams rose higher than any building in the real world could hope to, great spikes of steel and brick that reached onward and upward as if they too dreamed, and in those dreams they scraped the very belly of the sky.

The building Thalia was on was not the tallest of these skyscrapers, but it was tall. She swung her legs out over space, sitting on the edge of the roof and looked down. It was a very long fall.

two hands reached for the girl, settling on her shoulders. a chillingly calm tone followed after. "an amazing view, is it not?" no, he was not suggesting that the view of the skyscrapers were amazing. it was the ground. imagining the blood and splatter of one who has fallen from such a height was attractive to someone like him. yet, something like that could never happen in the world they were in.

dreams were only dreams, after all.

he let her go quickly, having only held on to keep her in place. others were easily surprised and he couldn't lose a conversational partner over some simple mistake. now that would be so sorrowful, wouldn't it?

She froze when the hands settled on her shoulders, not relaxing even when their owner let go. She didn't turn around to face him. She kept staring straight ahead at the lights of the city laid out against the horizon. Say what you would about Nimbasa, but the Dream World was the real city that never slept.

"You surprised me," she said mildly, after a moment. "Not many people come up here, despite the view."
