This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

they escaped the land of nightmares and ended up in a safe place, J thought. he walked the streets of decima, looking for a suitable place to recover in -- but thalia's choking alerted him at once.
"sorry," he said. he may have been unaffected by its poisons, but that didn't mean that other people weren't. before thalia turned a color he had yet to see, J immediately made for the underground, where it was safe. he knew a bar there.
then again, the last time they had been here, they had been subjected to many horrors. J hesitated, but steeled himself and descended into the underground.
Thalia glanced around the underground. It seemed as deserted as ever--Decima still wasn't a very popular destination vacation. She pressed her hand over her chest. The crystal was still there.
Thalia reached out one hand as if to touch the claws, and then drew back.
"I suppose that means we aren't better," she said. "Just out of there."
She dug her C-Gear out of her pocket--it had somehow miraculously survived the entire ordeal, they really did build those things to last--and fired off a text to Karimi.
J retracted his claws. it wasn't something he was proud of, to say the least. it was something very strange, but not completely unnatural to him.
"we're good that we're out of there," said J, "i could use a drink." he glanced in the direction of the bar, but immediately remembered the huntail from before. J hesitated.
"from someone who was crying in front of a giratina and deoxys?"
J let the question hang, and started off slowly towards the bar. they did deserve to get drunk, health be damned. if they avoided the huntail, nothing was going to happen.
upon their entering the bar, the bartender squinted at them disapprovingly. it was a very shamees-like gaze, except that J was certain that ghosts did not run bars. that, or he was seeing things after their adventure.
