This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

He is not familiar with the dream world. The few times he has visited - fewer and fewer, nowadays, though that is subject to change, he promises - is for the training arena, where mist and trees and rives is all that he's ever known. He's not familiar with this new extension of the dream world, where shadows hide everywhere, and black and red mix to create a shade that is chillingly reminiscent of blood.
The table he sits at is pitch black and empty. A void opens up like a black hole, and he isn't sure whether the chair he sits in is there, or just a figment of his imagination. There is darkness everywhere, but light manifests in the form of dim candlelight that rests at the table's very center, casting the entire room into an eerie, red-orange glow.
Jayden taps at the table irritably with his index finger and contemplates leaving, or trying to leave, at least. He's still not sure if escape is possible, or if its just a matter of willing himself awake, like he always does.

Ariel has seen more of the dream world than most over the years, and even more so now that he has retired. He's bored more often than not, but he doesn't regret it. Ariel is sure he is of more use off the field than on. He mustn't think like a trainer, its been months since he's actually been one.
He never wanted to be awake though, so he tossed and turned for a few minutes. He gripped, what were these, bedsheets? He had fallen asleep on the floor drunk. It startled him as he began to regain some kind of conscious. Ariel jerked awake. He rubbed his eyes, this wasn't his bedroom, no - this was certainly the dream world. He felt like he knew this place, but at the same time, he didn't. It was all so strange, Ariel was such a conscious dreamer.
He grumbled something and takes a look around. No doors, there seems to be little way out at the moment. As he's looking around, he bumps into something - someone. A face he recognizes somewhat, someone he battled perhaps? Wait! He was the guy who inspired Ariel to get an Aron. It was strange how things worked. "Hey, I know you! Can't say I remember your name though."
Wine suddenly appeared and rather than question it Ariel sat down, taking the corkscrew and opening the bottle. He poured himself a glass. "You look a little too young to drink," he joked. Ariel didn't give a shit, and passed the bottle. "I'm professor," he'd never grow use to used to that title, "Ariel. You are?"

"You finally woke up." Jayden twists around and smirks at the man who slept like a rock and wouldn't wake up, despite all of his efforts. In the dim light, some of Ariel's features are more recognizable, and at the sound of his voice, recognition dawns in Jayden's eyes. "I remember you." On the table, his fingers are drumming up quite the beat as he thinks about this strange turn of events. Didn't this guy have Frillish? Jayden certainly seems to think so, the blue octopus-esque pokemon are a hard sight to forget.
"You don't remember because I never told you." Rolling his eyes, Jayden reaches across the table and curls his hand around the wine bottle, a silent signal for Ariel to let go. While under normal circumstances, he would've forced, he knows when he's outmatched by strength, which shows that he has changed, regardless of how little. "Jayden. I'm not calling you professor." Referring to the man as Ariel is already enough of a stretch as it is. He hasn't called anybody but her by name, and that trend certainly isn't going to start now.
"So what do you teach?" There is a distinct lack of food on the table, and the land remedies that. With his free hand, Jayden grabs a fork and pokes at the food on his plate, raising an eyebrow at Ariel's chest. "Surfing classes?"
