This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Thalia was starting to feel vaguely sick. She wasn't sure if it was the heights or the topic of conversation, but she sat down cross-legged on the rooftop and folded her arms over her stomach. Mienshao pressed a paw over her forehead.
"Guess not," she echoed Felizia. "I hope I never find out if it did work or not, if it involves meeting it again. Er, I hope you don't run into it either."
“Um…” Sitting down was normal enough, but Felizia wasn’t sure if it was good or bad that Thalia covered her stomach. Her Pokemon seemed concerned enough. “Yeah. Same. I hope so too. For all of that.”
It felt awkward to not be on eye level with the other woman, but Felizia couldn’t manage to make herself sit or crouch down. She just stood there, looking down, but at the least she was able to ask. “You okay?”
2tsunz omg four pages now i'm sorry this isn't more exciting

Thalia felt as if remembering the incident had somehow actually made her sick. She knew that wasn't possible, but she forced herself to her feet, though she was pale and shaking.
"Urgh," she mumbled, and then said to Felizia: "I'm really sorry, I don't--feel good all of the sudden. This is embarrassing."
She wasn’t okay. That much was obvious. Felizia didn’t think anymore past that. She called over to her Pokemon (who was, until then, drifting through a bored daydream), “Oi you! Come over here and help the Mienshao.” Seeing that something wasn’t right, Carina tried to do just that even if she wasn’t too sure what that was. She copied the Mienshao and held onto the trainer’s legs.
“Hey, you’re shaking,” Felizia said to Thalia. “You should sit down. I’ll go find some help.” They were on top of a giant-ass department store – there was bound to be a medical person whose day off she could interrupt. They liked shopping, right?
Luck was not on Thalia's side today. She didn't just pass out, she crashed. Mienshao barely caught her in time to keep her head from cracking open on the rooftop. Lowering her unconscious trainer to the ground, Mienshao turned to Felizia and gestured for her to keep going. She would watch over her trainer.
< 50 thalia wakes up next post
She was going to be so embarrassed about this later.
Shit. She fainted. Shit. Shit. Shit. To Felizia, who was unaccustomed to people fainting, Thalia might as well have dropped dead.
Luckily, the Mienshao wasn’t freaking out over this, and Felizia caught some of its calm. She nodded and made a run for the door.
A few minutes later (okay, closer to ten) she returned with…
pEeX|DVN 1-33 nurse joy 34-66 some doctor who was previously enjoying his day off 67-99 some random dept. store worker who knows first aid 100 someone dressed in a sudowoodo costume
Thalia woke up with a throbbing headache just as Felizia emerged back onto the roof with a hapless looking department store worker. He was still holding a clothes hanger in one hand.
Poor department store worker, he didn’t seem all too sure now that the alleged fainted person was now awake. “You weren’t before.” Felizia was quick to point that out. “And you still don’t look it.” She turned to the department store worker and gave him an expectant look. “Go on. Do your thing.”
What thing?
2tsunz I have no idea what medical certificate people do so I’m pushing that over to you
The poor department store worker had been a lifeguard in high school and taken his CPR certification courses. As Thalia was awake, aware and breathing, he was at a bit of a loss of what to do.
He knelt down beside her, put the clothes hanger aside, and asked: "Does your head hurt?"
"No," Thalia lied rather sulkily.
He shrugged.
"Uh. Well if it starts hurting, go to a doctor and get it checked out."
Well that was a let-down. And here Felizia had been expecting at least one funny medical word. She guessed anyone could go and take a CPR certification course.
Felizia looked at the Mienshao, then back at the clothes hanger guy. “Don’t worry. Her Pokemon’s cool. It’ll make sure she does.”
The department store worker took that as a cue to say his “Okay, bye”s and leave. Once out of sight, Felizia snorted. Some help he had been. She asked Thalia, “You sure you’re okay now?”
Felizia took her word for it. At least the trainer had her Pokemon to look out for her.
She laughed a little and tried to lighten the mood with a bit of joking. “No problem. I guess being a candidate for a scourge bride does that to people.”

I really, really didn't expect to pass that roll. I didn't even ebon badge it. This thread has just become a trainwreck for her. I'm sorry Felizia.
The breeder's words had barely registered. Thalia didn't even have time to decipher what was being said before she pitched onto her hands and knees and started vomiting. Jesus christ.
She emptied her stomach quite thoroughly, wiped her mouth on her arm and shuddered.
Don’t worry. I’m laughing more than I’m cringing. The vomiting reminded me of that old lady from Little Britain.
Felizia, on the other hand, was the opposite. She jumped back for fear of any stray bits that might land on her feet and visibly cringed. So much for lightening the mood.
She just stared – anywhere but at the collection on the ground or Thalia’s face. “Uh… Yeah. That would be a good idea. Maybe you should go see a doctor too. Or a psychologist.” The psychologist would probably be better.
Yeah, she'd go see a psychologist. And maybe emboars would learn to fly.
"I think, I'm going to go back to my hotel room," Thalia said, rising to her feet. Mienshao tucked close against her, as if she expected her trainer to topple like a fallen tree at any moment. Given how the last few minutes had gone, it was maybe not an unreasonable assumption. "It was...nice meeting you," she said to the ground at Felizia's feet.
