This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Evylin took a second to look at the door in front of her, then turned the handle with her hand and pushed it over with her umbrella. She walked in singing the same tune. “Do doo do doo…”
A few steps in and she stopped to look around. She giggled – how silly, there was never anything interesting in the entrance, now, was there? Evylin stabbed her umbrella against the ground, making a loud noise to announce she was here. She sung out in a high-pitch,
have i ever mentioned how i was excited to see someone from majisuka gakuen fc'd? ... now i have. anyway, moving along:
the door to the laboratory swung upon by some sort of psychic energy. behind it was an alakazam munching on some sandwiches at the desk. it wore glasses, and was perusing a copy of the daily at the same time. "hello~" it half-sang telepathically, "professor's not in, but if you're here for starter pokémon, i can assign some to you~"
mr krauss flipped the newspaper to another page with a wave of its spoon. at the same time, the pokémon employed its telekinesis to send a few pieces of paper over to the newcomer.
Dude I discovered Majisuka Gakuen FCs and I wish all of my characters had them.
Evylin giggled. Aww cute, it acted just like people. Evylin walked closer to it, singing back, “Hi, hello, so nice to meet you.” She had never seen one act like it before and was intrigued. She wondered what made it act like that…
She caught the pages with a jump. Speaking this time, Evylin tucked her umbrella under an arm and held out an empty hand. “Pen?” There was one in her pocket, but she didn’t use it for filling out forms.
Or for any kind of writing, really. The ink had probably dried up by now. “Yes please, starters please. Show me something interesting?”
"hmm, yes. most certainly," said mr krauss. it knew just what to give newcomers! a selection of pokémon waddled out to meet her, while the alakazam dug through cupboards and shelves to see where ms sybil had shoved the starter packs. honestly, that gothitelle could stand to be a little less neat sometimes ...
Evylin giggled again when the Pokemon waddled out to her. They looked adorably silly doing that. She looked over the group and approached the Vullaby… and promptly poked its diaper with her umbrella. “Now how does that work?” There couldn’t be more uncomfortable diapers in the entire world!
The Vullaby squawked back at her, unhappy, and moved back. “Aw, are you scared of me?” Evylin tried to put on a mock-sad look but the corners of her mouth were turning the wrong way. “And what about you?”
And she did the same thing to the others, poking them with her umbrella. She laughed when, in an attempt to dodge the poke, the Kabutops fell back on its shell. She had chosen. But first…
mr krauss chuckled. oh, this girl had a nice sense of humor. the alakazam could appreciate that. it sent the rest of the pokémon back where they came from before attending to evylin.
"okay," said mr krauss, clearing its throat. "you are now the proud owner of a kabuto! and also a pokédex and some items." it presented them to the researcher; they were floating within arm's reach.
Oh darn, the Alakazam had been too fast for her and sent away the other Pokemon. Still, Evylin reached for the items offered to her, once she had picked up the Kabuto on top of her head, of course. Come on, it was a Kabuto; the hat of the Pokemon world.
“Hey Mr. Spoons~” Evylin held up her Pokedex. “Can you bring ‘em back out?”
Evylin bounced up and down. “Yay!” She tapped the ground with her umbrella in anticipation. As soon as the other Pokemon came back (for some reason they weren’t as thrilled as she was :c) Evylin set her Pokedex to work and for a moment only beeping could be heard.
When she’d finished she turned to Mr. Krauss and held her Pokedex out at him too. She took a few steps closer and when the beeping had finished she grinned at him.
If it was a camera, the next thing Evylin would have done was take a selfie with the Alakazam. Because why not?
“Ooh~” Evylin hummed a tune as she scanned the Rattata as well. Beep beep! And with that, she sensed that she was done here and that there wasn’t any other Pokemon to scan.
This researcher thing was already more fun than she’d imagined.
“Beep beep see ya!” She waved, then turned to leave.
