This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.

The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

cyrus hadn't been long in the city and noticed this little hidden gem of a place. he and his litleo were looking around seeing what kind of stuff they could find that they could make of value. he was lucky enough to come here when no one was looking. it seemed quiet enough and even if there was something lurking about he would make sure that whatever it was dealt with. he would straight out fight but he would try to scare it away before getting into a fight. however, his eye caught something shiney on top of a few box crates. "hey stay down here and keep a look out" he told him as he happliy growled as cyrus made tried to figure out a safe way to get to that object.
the purrloin had something to say about the current state of affairs. it was honestly rather unpleasant, and it hadn't an idea of why a chill had taken over the warehouse. the weather was supposed to warm by now -- it couldn't always be winter in here! it purred, unhappy.
it was joined by a friend -- a zubat.
blind, but sensitive to temperature drops all the same, it perched upon the crates as it addressed its feline friend.
"oh, don't be a baby," said the bat, tutting, "ever heard of global warming? that's what's going on right now. that's why this place is brr-rr-cold!"
little did the two of them know that they were right next to a shiny bunch of keys, and that a human and his pokémon were staring right their way.
from what cyrus could see the climb up the crates wouldn't be all that long. he really hoped that nothing would try to take him by surprised while he made his short ascend up to where the shiny object was at. after some time cyrus of getting up, he was finally able to see what the object was "oohhman..." cyrus was a bit bummed out that the shiny object was just a pair of keys however when he looked around he noticed that were was two pokemon sitting right there from where the keys were sitting at "uh, well hello there..." it was pretty much all cyrus could get out. he really hoped that they were decent civil pokemon and wouldn't try to kill them.
these were wild pokémon! but then again, in the face of the scourge, even the greediest, slobbering granbull would seem like a princess.
the purrloin licked one of its paws idly. 'global warming? you must have bumped your head!' said the feline, '-- oh. there's a human.' its nose had picked up the scent of someone else -- and that someone else was frighteningly close to them.
the zubat almost jumped, but it instead performed the equivalent of taking flight a few inches into the air and hovering there.
'a human!' it shrieked, sound waves shaking the crates.
the purrloin hissed at the bat, having almost lost its balance. 'watch your voice, fool!' it snapped, claws digging into the wooden crates.
the keys fell to the ground, tinkling as they dropped into the darkness of the shadows cast by the crates.
after cyrus spoke to the pokemon who were probably thinking of clawing and biting him to death. he sorta just sat there and watched their strange interaction with each other. however, when the zubat reacted in seeing him it caused the keys to dropped back down into the depths of the warehouse. cyrus glanced away as they fell "damnit!" cyrus was almost about to just dive bomb for them but the pokemon were now focusing on him "uh..." by this time cyrus's litleo had decided to join up with his master and it spotted the two other pokemon. it decided that he was in trouble and decided to attack.

"hey what the hell are you doing? I thought I told you to wait for me" cyrus sighed as he was now gonna have to get himself into a battle.
vertigo (it's all good and hopefully I do this battle thing right.)
"great, just what I really wanted" cyrus really didn't want to fight these two. he just wanted to get those keys. though now he was going to have to deal with this. from what cyrus could tell, it seemed that the purrloin had no real interest in the fight. cyrus figured he would focus on the zubat and maybe he would try to catch it if he was able to. litleo snarled at the zubat as it tried attacking again.
litleo uses leer on zubat. litleo uses ember on zubat.
vertigo (oh wow, that's what I get for looking at other people's thread to see if I was doing it right. just let me know if I ever needed to edit stuff.)
the purrloin leapt down to where cyrus was and mewed at him. 'you're a handsome young man,' it purred, rubbing its head against his leg.
zubat was hit by leer and ember zubat used gust
the bat pokémon beat its wings, conjuring up a strong gust of wind that headed towards the litleo.
'hey! quit talking to him and help me out here!' the bat shrieked to its friend.
ORCA (( if you're fighting against one enemy, you don't really need to specify your target, but right now, litleo is fighting against two. so you need to specify a target, lol. and yes, sure thing. i'll let ya know if you need to fix stuff.
(( okay so next step in battling: secondary effects. certain moves like ember have secondary effects, so you need to roll for them. ember has a chance of causing burn, so you put down [*roll] <10, and if it's lower than 10 it burns the opponent. ))
"oh, uh, thanks" cyrus was almost half tempted to give the purrlion a rub on it's head but was still sorta suspicious of it. plus, he had to keep in eye on the battle at hand.

it seemed that maybe this purrloin wasn't so bad after all. cyrus slightly knelt down to rub the pokemon's chin alittle bit "you know, your not all that bad. maybe... you like to come with me." cyrus figured that maybe instead of trying to catch the zubat it would maybe see if the purrloin wanted to join him.

vertigo (lol I hope so but I'll keep at it for now. do I have to roll to get unconfused or do I let a certain amount of turns go before it wears off? also should I mention if litleo get's hit by confusion while trying to perform attacks while confused? EDIT: okay hopefully I did everything you said right.)
the zubat was singed by the embers, and was dismayed to find that it had failed to inflict confusion on the lion cub. it screeched in distaste.
'pokémon of humans are of a different, vile breed!' the zubat screeched its disapproval.
the purrloin sighed. 'you are wasting your time, yes,' drawled the kitten, as it rubbed its head against cryus some more. it seemed willing to go to a new home, where it would be cared for by a nice human like cyrus.
'i'll try it one last time,' insisted the zubat, diving down to attack the litleo again.
the zubat seemed a bit against just giving up and just joining his side like the purrloin was doing. he could tell from the body language the two were giving each other. cyrus felt the purrloin rub him some more. however, cyrus right now wondered if his litleo was going to make it out okay.
'i did it!' said the zubat as it pulled itself up and away from the incoming ember attack. the bat pokémon turned to its friend. 'did you see that?! i totally dodged that, too!'
too bad the purrloin didn't really give a damn. the cat shrugged, as well as a cat could, anyway. 'yeah,' it agreed half-heartedly, 'whatever. you either win this or you lose really bad. that's about it, you jester.'
cyrus sighed a bit as litleo's ember didn't hit this time. he thought that if did that it would take the zubat down but the thing just wouldn't go down without a fight. "come on leon, just a few more hits and we got this" he said as leon bounced around as he snarled at the zubat again and prepared for another attack.
