This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Walking away already? Geez, now who was he going to practice taunting that Chansey on? Oh well. He shrugged and went back to his rest, occasionally looking for the other trainer's Pokemon as she started to leave.
"Sure thing!" Dan pulled out his C-Gear, a bit old and worn but otherwise functional, and offered it to the other trainer. He input his number into hers and handed it back. "See you later. Oh, and remember to keep safe!"
A styler? Awesome, another Ranger just like him! He waved as she teleported away, not even considering the lack of accompanying Pokemon.

Ambrose seemed a bit more on the ball, but in his injured haze he didn't even suspect a thing. The two continued heading toward Juturna Village, none the wiser as to the true identity of Dan's new friend.
