This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

“Okay, even for a dream world, this is messed up.”
The deadpan voice came from a human who was sitting on a cloud in the section of the Isle of Dreams called the Windswept Sky. He had come here to see some of the flying type Pokemon, and to have Gliscor beat a few of them down to get stronger.
Sitting on a cloud made him almost ready to change his mind and go elsewhere.
Banjin laid back and looked up, watching the clouds over him, and saw Gliscor lazily flying about, looking for opponents. Banjin was amused to find her so bored she was actually doing tricks, corkscrews and figure eights making her into quite the sight.
“Gliscor!” Banjin called out, getting her attention. “I’m going to close my eyes for a bit, keep an eye out for other Pokemon.”
Getting her nod, he closed his eyes and began to meditate. ‘Hopefully something comes around soon, we need these fights.’
A dark shadow sudden popped up out of the cloud. The shape chirped and wriggled and squirmed mightily before popping completely through the dense cloud bank. The shape, now revealed to be a Vullaby, waved a happy wing at Banjin and the Gliscor.
"Hello! What a wonderful day it is good sir!" she said brightly. For a dark type Pokemon, she seemed to have quite the sunny disposition.
The Vullaby realized that Banjin's eyes were closed. She hopped closer along the cloud, flapping her little wings with tremendous effort each time. It took a lot to get her rolly-polly egg shell clad body into the air every time, but the Pokemon was tougher than her bright disposition gave her credit for, and she didn't even seem to notice the effort.
With a last, almighty heave, the Vullaby alighted not-at-all lightly atop Banjin's head. She pecked at the light greenish strands of hair.
"Hello mister! Are you dead?" she sounded very eager about this idea. She waited for Banjin to give a response, then added, "Can I eat you? Or just have a nibble? You have two eyes, I think, so can I have one? You don't really need the extra, do you?"

Banjin heard something moving around on his cloud, but thought nothing of it, assuming it to be Gliscor coming down to finally rest. It wasn’t until the little Vullaby landed on his head that he knew it wasn’t his starter. Groaning in pain when it hit, then jerking away quickly when he felt it peck him on his head. Rolling away, Banjin came up with his sword half drawn before he realized what was in front of him.
‘A Vullaby?’ He thought to himself, carefully looking around for more little ‘friends’. ‘Perhaps I should attempt to capture it? I know Mandibuzz’s are pretty strong, and having something around to help get rid of bodies is always a nice thing to have…’ He mused, looking it over. Feeling a little bit of pain from it landing on his head, his frown deepened. ‘…But not until after Gliscor knocks it around for a bit.’
Putting his ring and thumb together, and using them to make a sharp whistle, he waited until he saw Gliscor look down at him and the little bird. “Gliscor, you know what to do!” He shouted.
Gliscor grinned evilly as she dived, flattening out after a moment and flying quickly towards the little bird. “Sorry brat, but a commands a command, try not to die!”[//color] She yelled, before a white mist started to come from her mouth and she bit at the little bird.
"Oh this is just a lovely bunch of coconuts, isn't it?" the Vullaby muttered to herself just before the Gliscor crashed into her. Vullaby was catapulted from her perched atop Banjin's head (though not before her talons clutched refelxsively on his hair and pulled out a good few strands). She landed with a cute little 'oof!' on an especially fluffy bit of cloud stuff.
The rotund Pokemon rolled from side to side, flailing her little wings wildly. She eventually managed to rock herself back onto her stubby, extremely well-clawed feet.
"Awww you're not dead," Vullaby addressed Banjin sadly, "how unfortunate. I do like the dead much better than the living." She would have fit right in with the Voodoo culture of New Orleans.
The Vullaby actually rarely ventured so high into the sky. Dead things were much closer to the ground, after all, and it was a job and three quarters to fly all the way up here. When she'd seen Banjin, sitting there unmoving, and with green hair (everyone knew green things were dead and rotten and absolutely delicious), Vullaby had been overjoyed. Silly boy, moving around when he was supposed to be dead. Oh well, she could always just dispatch his Pokemon and follow him around until he died of something.
Not bothered by the bit of frost remaining on her wings (Vullaby had regularly flown through sandstorms and hailstorms without mussing a single feather), she proceeded with her natural plan of attack.
Her eyes alight with an inner glow that coudl shred even the staunchest of opponent's defenses like lace, Vullaby gave a running hop, skip, and a jump, and vaulted into the air. Her little wings flapped mightily, and she charged furiously at the Gliscor. Her beak and claws flashed out, hoping to land multiple blows.
