Icarus the Magikarp lay flopping in the center of the stadium, awaiting the next challenger. So far, none had come into the arena, not after seeing his name and image emblazoned on the screen. All feared the magikarp supreme species.

He basked in his glory.

Neo, for her part, was reading a book.

( Yes, I am training up this magikarp. Consider it a free victory. After EIGHT MORE LOSSES, it will level up. :\ )

nana was feeling fiesty, and grayson's interest of his hair was important to him. the eevee was set on the ground, bouncing over to the magikarp flopping. a brief moment of intimiation crossed her face.

a tackle was in order, and so with that the eevee charged forward.

meanwhile, grayson was wondering how long nana would fear magikarps.

The magikarp grimaced with pain! Tackled in the spleen, eeurgh! By some ugly brown creature, no less. It's mousey hide was no match for the splendor of Icarus' ruby scales!

With a fierce battle cry (it sounded like glub glub glub), Icarus splashed.

Neo turned a page in her book, not even looking to observe the battle. She had a pretty good idea of how it'd go.

the ungodly shriek of the eevee was completely unnecessary. nana, however, managed to remember that water... did not hurt. she shook off h2o and charged forth again, once more a tackle.

perhaps grayson would have a sandwich for lunch. maybe some pasta if he was feeling hungrier by then...

The magikarp cried out from the pain. Oh, the suffering! Oh, the anguish! Icarus clenched his indomitable jaw, drew himself into a fiery rage, and passed out.

The crowd roared at this surprising upset! The magikarp Icarus, a great hero of the arena, was defeated.

Neo, for her part, started reading a new chapter.
