The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

He did a double take as soon as he saw the blue on the zorua. That wasn't normal. "Oh! An Eos kid, huh? They're saying good things about you all! Still, can't go easy now! Agate, use scary face and rock slide!"
The archen cawed and gave the zorua his best glower, then a tumult of rocks crashed down.
Emily smiled toward Jasper. "Thank you! I'm from the Kanto region but I'm prepared to do my best here!" Mirage took note of the Archen's Scary Face, and although it wasn't that scary, he was still affected by it.
"Dodge!"

"Kanto? I was there once! One hell of a fossil archive on that island of yours! Shame what happened to it..." Oh, great, good going, Jasper, he thought. Mention the island that a volcano exploded upon. Real sensitive of you.
Uh. Back to the battle, then! "Agate! Leer and quick attack real fast!"
Cinnabar? Oh, that was ages ago. Emily just laughed at the comment. "Yeah, a shame. But it really has some neat features even after the explosion!" she called out, then returning her eyes back to the battle.
The Leer and Quick Attack hit, but the Zorua was just getting warmed up. "Alright, let's use Dark Pulse!"

Another double team, eh? Emily watched the Archen pop around the arena, making doubles of itself in every direction. But only one of them could be the real one, so Emily decided to use a different tactic.
"Spin your Faint Attack in a circle around the arena to catch your target off guard!"

Agate didn't--couldn't!--dodge the faint attack. Jasper winced involuntarily as the archen crumpled to the ground. "Good one!" he congratulated, and he recalled the archen.
Jasper walked over to Emily to present her his badge. "This is for you. You've earned it! And, here, this is a TM, a little something that'll help you out maybe, a lucky rock--I'm serious, it's lucky--and some cash. Don't spend it all--oh, who am I kidding? You spend it however you want!"

When the Archen fell, Emily couldn't help but run out to the field and grab Mirage. "We did it! You and Bulb were so amazing!" she cooed, snuggling into the Zorua. Jasper walked up and she looked at him, smiling from ear to ear.
"Thank you very much! It was a pleasure battling with you! Your pokemon were astounding!" After grabbing her things the trainer waved goodbye to Jasper and left the gym.
