This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

One more battle. That;s all Pree needed to evolve! Emily wasn't going to use this dream to battle, but apparently the Togepi had been begging her for the last hour about it. Something was up. And the only thing Emily could think of was that the little pokemon was ready to evolve.
So they were once again in the arena, waiting for their opponent.
J recognized emily. he had previously fought against her with kazfiel, his charmeleon. this time, though, the both of them were using different pokémon.
it felt strange to be intruding in someone's dream then winning against them.
J nodded in greeting to emily before throwing his treecko's pokéball onto the arena to release it. the sphere returned to his grasp as the gecko stood straight in the arena, tapping its feet as it looked at the egg.
Emily watched the male enter the arena and smiled when she noticed it was J. She waved to him, happy to see him again. "Hello J! It's so good to see you again! But this time I'm gonna win!" she called out, looking to the Togepi.
Always the quiet one, that J. Emily really wanted him to talk, but if he didn't want to...well, she didn't want to force him. So she decided to keep her mouth shut and use her energy working on battle strategy.
the treecko was struck in the abdomen by the shadow sneak, and took a tumble. it didn't really stand a chance against a pokémon multiple levels higher than it, really.
not willing to give up, it used its favorite attack: dragonbreath.
the little gecko continued to breathe its flames despite beads of sweat popping up along its temples.
Pree did NOT like that dragonbreath attack. She cried out as the flames hit her, and she ran around trying to avoid the heat. "Hey it's okay Pree! Counter with Metronome!"
After the flames left her body, Pree returned to her original spot on the battlefield and wagged her finger to start up her attack.
a great mass of flames spread across the arena, and J was thankful for the borders that immediately generated a protective field to shield trainers from harm. the fires within were contained, but what was left behind was a badly-burnt treecko.
damn, J thought. metronome wasn't anything to be trifled with. J retrieved the treecko's pokéball and recalled it back into the sphere. somehow, he was grateful that this was the dream world, and the treecko would be fine except for the fact that it would wake up, cold, shivering -- like it would after a real nightmare.
as the treecko awoke, so did J, and he faded from emily's view.
