This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

She'd told J she was moving on from Lake Pax, and she hadn't lied to him. He just probably didn't think that she'd meant she was going backwards. She'd wanted to see Bacchus again, and she had. But the empty houses and deserted streets had been more than she could stand. And if she was being honest with herself, J's comment about the Scourge knowing them had struck home, again, if not in the way he expected.
She'd started fighting the Scourge here. Was it right to just pick up and keep moving forward, even though the Scourge were still her? She wasn't sure. But she knew the only thing she wanted to have in common with Irene was her hair color. Which was how she'd found herself in Bellona once more.
a flash of pink, the sound of footsteps -- and the woman's first thought was that the gym leader had returned to bacchus at long last. she quietly followed, her dark camerupt beside her. if it was irene, then she couldn't possibly defeat her alone ... but no. it was simply a brave (foolish?) girl. she glanced at rapture, who blinked slowly in response.
Thalia eyed the man and his camerupt. That was a scourge pokemon. There was no doubt about it. That was a scourge pokemon, but it was standing calmly beside him, making no move to attack or rend anything limb from limb. It had only blinked placidly when the man looked at it.
She did not like this, not at all.
"I don't think anyone in Bellona is a child anymore," Thalia said. "But I agree that it's not really a place for anyone." Her hand was twitching for her pokeball, but she didn't want to make any sudden movements, and somehow set something off. What in world was going on?
she saw the girl's eyes land on the camerupt, and and her own blue eyes moved to the pokeballs. cameron had not intended to fight anyone today; she would let the girl go unscathed.
this time.
so she gave the girl an ultimatum. "give me your pokemon." if this girl was eos, then she knew what could happen otherwise.
The laugh that ripped itself out of Thalia surprised even her. Did--did anyone think she was handing over her Pokemon again? No. Did they think she'd ever watch them--turn on her, on each other, with fangs and claws and dead, black eyes--
"Go fuck yourself," she snarled, stumbling backwards and clawing at her belt for the first two pokeballs she could get a hand on.
Togepi and dragonair burst out, Thalia catching the egg pokemon in her arms before lowering him to the ground on his feet as dragonair coiled and reared up, her head swaying over the camerupt and the trainer.
"Kill the camerupt," Thalia said. "Leave the man alive. There's something not right about him."

such a pity. "you should watch your language." cameron's face remained expressionless; this girl was a child. nothing more.
"go, rapture." the camerupt knew the agent well enough to make her own decisions -- first was a nasty, terrible expression directed at the dragonair; then, with a speed not usually associated with her large body, the camerupt meandered out of the way of the aqua tail and and grunting as the brine inflicted damage.
with the scourge pokemon as the center, a blast of heat radiated outward -- followed by a loud rumbling as the ground around the camerupt began to crack, rocks thrown up from the heaving earth.
(camerupt dodged aqua tail, hit by brine. used scary face on dragonair, used heat wave on both, used earth power on dragonair.)
The togepi tucked itself into its shell to dodge heat wave, and then popped back out to unleash his attack while the camerupt was focused on the dragonair.

The dragonair dodged heat wave as well but was caught off guard with earth power.
her eyes focused on the togepi, and they narrowed in suspicion. "get out of the way," she warned. the camerupt snorted, tromping off to the side, and tossed her head in irritation when the dragonair's body collided with her own. the pokemon released another blast of fire in retaliation, turning to make a horrible face at the togepi.
then the camerupt's feet began to slam against the ground.
(dodges yawn, uses heat wave, uses scary face on togepi, uses magnitude.)
aah. smart girl. waving her styler through the air, cameron drew the sign for azelf, surrounding her pokemon with a light blue barrier. the attacks bounced harmlessly off of it, and rapture took the opportunity to toss large boulders at the vulpix before the ground began to shake again.

Thalia watched as a tiny shiver in the ground rolled across to vulpix and togepi; and togepi promptly fainted and fell on his face. Word. Great job, togepi.

the pokemon roared in anger as the attacks collided, sending a final heat wave at the eevee and kadabra, before slowly sinking to her knees. cameron gently patted her pokemon, stroking the dark fur. they would leave her alone for the time being; this girl had beaten them.
(insert retreat here. idk how that works. i'm assuming all of thalia's pokemon get +1 level for winning. HOOK WHERE ART THOU)
he smiled, a scant figure against looming bellona hills. the young man raised a hand in greeting towards thalia, cheerily greeting: "hey! need a hand?"
dressed in a clean, crisp suit, the agent strode over to where thalia was and offered her a revive for her fainted pokémon. "here," he said, smiling.
