This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Every time she came to the arena, she generally had a different face to meet. Sometimes she'd fight the same person, but it was quite rare. So today Emily entered the arena with Blaze and Skipper on each side of her.
Blaze was used to the arena but Skipper had just recently come from his shell. Being new wasn't always a bad thing, but Emily wanted him to get some practice at being in battle.
emily was starting to be something like victoria for J; he'd seen them fairly often in the battle arena, but never in the field, or in the real world. today, he had along with him his treecko and riolu.
the two of them were awkward standing in the middle of the arena as they looked over at the quilava and mudkip. it wasn't an even match, but J supposed that they would have to make do with similarly-levelled pokémon.
he didn't think that his using dust would go over too well.
Again? Emily's mouth opened as she saw J standing before her again. "Hey! J, right? It's good to see you again! But we really need to meet in person sometime...Hah!" the trainer laughed. It really was odd to see one person so many times in the dream world...
"But you're here to battle eh? Let's go!"
:quilava: used smokescreen and ember on riolu! :smudkip: used tackle on treecko!
thorpe sprang into action, taking both attacks admirably. the smokescreen shrouded most of its view. needless to say, its quick attack would miss this turn. it performed the move but it missed anyway.
treecko inhaled, and the tackle shoved it in the tummy. it released a blast of dragonbreath.
Skipper tried to dodge the dragonbreath but was too slow. After taking it full force he staggered backward with spinning eyes. "It's okay Skip! you were great!" Emily called, returning the baby to its ball. "Now use Quick Attack!"
the treecko woke up in real life, covered in cold sweat and went to get a glass of water from the nearby vending machine.
all that was left was thorpe to battle blaze. through the smokescreen, thorpe used two quick attacks, one doomed to miss, the other still making its way straight towards the quilava.
Damn. She couldn't dodge another quick attack! Blaze was getting tired and it began to worry the girl. "Try and dodge! Then use Ember again!" Because really it was the only move he could use.
It seemed as though this battle was almost over. Blaze took the two consecutive quick attacks and fell over. He wanted to get up to try again, but Emily recalled him to his pokeball. "No need. You fought well."
She then smiled toward J and waved. "Thank you for this battle! I'm glad I was able to see you again. But can we meet in person next time? I'd like to get to know you!"
J wasn't sure if he'd like to get to know emily better. he preferred keeping her in the same category as victoria, but he shrugged at the statement anyway. coulda been a yes, coulda been a no.
"good job, anyway," he said, recalling his pokémon and leaving emily's dream.
