The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Thalia rolled her eyes at the battling pokemon and moved J's head into her lap. Kind of a personal space invasion, but she figured he'd prefer not to die.
J was revitalized in an instant and he felt better instantly. he still laid in thalia's lap, wondering what the hell happened and why togepi had managed to use heal pulse instead of v-create.
"i guess," J groaned, getting up into a seated position, but knew better than to stand. he'd only fall over stupid. he found his pokémon's pokéballs and recalled them, before stuffing them back into his parka's pockets.
clutching his head (it was ringing, hurting and felt like it was about to split open), he turned to her and said, "that whirlpool was stupid."
J had no energy to say anything else, so agreeing was by far the best option. he glanced over at the dead huntail, too.
he nodded, again. "wing, get the eel," he said after sending out the skarmory. the bird caught the eel and deposited it in the sand, before disappearing in a mass of red light. J said nothing else as he dragged his half-dead body over to an undamaged tree and rested beneath it.
the entire past hour had indeed been stupid beyond belief, in thalia's words. was it even healthy to eat a cursed huntail?
J accepted the plate. it was quite possible that thalia was a better cook than he was -- or perhaps it was just a different in available ingredients. he attempted to eat the eel.
