This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

"J, I just tried to eat bitter powder. I will eat raw stuff." And it will taste better than bitter powder. It will, if the restaurant was any good, taste quite good in fact.
Neo took him by the arm--somehow afraid that he'd bolt and run away when they approached an eating establishment that served something besides bitter powder--and exited the gym to the streets, navigating her way to the restaurant. It only took a few seconds before they were seated in a booth by the window.
J saw the point in her argument and promptly said nothing else as he was taken to the restaurant. he'd somehow missed it on his way to the gym, while neo hadn't.
he shifted into the booth, and proceeded to glance out of the window after taking a quick look at the menu.
J turned his attention to the menu. he actually looked pretty healthy, and the average person unaware of his eating habits probably wouldn't have figured out that he had been surviving on odd foodstuffs. food supplements. something along those lines.
...There wasn't any reason for him to lose weight, no. Neo thought he looked fine. She'd never doubted his good health on their travels, not until he'd revealed his bitter powder habit.
"I don't know. I'm just trying to figure out how you haven't dropped dead yet despite eating so rarely. It sounds very cost effective."
J watched neo over his cup of green tea. the thought of stealing the earthenware crossed his mind, and he wondered whether anyone would miss a missing cup.
he sipped his drink, still contemplating the idea.
