This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

zara garnered a few sidelong glances from the proserpina residents -- with the city being the next stop after juno, they all had their fair share of suspicious people ...
but with zara's entourage, it were as if she didn't even know how to work a pokeball.
the pokemon's chatter followed in her footsteps as zara headed back to the apartment, her groceries nearly toppling out of her arms.
walking aeon the aerodactyl was a chore. the damn thing wanted to eat everything in sight. or at least, that was the impression that J got every time he took the fossil pokémon out. it had previously tried to attack a deino. it had also tried to attack a shroomish. thank god for effect spore.
the aerodactyl made a beeline for a female that had dropped something, and J hastily recalled the creature. it was never coming out from its pokéball again. time to get back to nerio city and get back to the scourge instead. (the peacefulness was probably getting to him ...)
as the aerodactyl swooped down upon her, her pokemon became aflutter with nervousness -- a few of the smaller, more prey-like ones squeaked and dove behind her legs (argh, she was going to drop her stuff) while the braver ones growled weakly.
zara occupied herself with making sure no more of her precious food committed suicide onto the ground, not bothering to look at the man who had recalled the fossil pokemon. her pokemon, however, had other ideas.
the particularly gutsy snivy marched up to J and began to chatter away, angrily waving his arms about in what was supposed to be sharp censure.
the breeder ignored her pokemon and wondered how she would be able to pick up the apple that was happily rolling away.
zara clamped a few items between her teeth as she readjusted her hold on her things, gently pushing her snivy over with her foot so she could stop a rolling can.
the grass pokemon looked from the breeder to the other man before waving his arms in the air and glaring at them both. humans.
she glanced briefly at J, nodding. "fanksh," she mumbled.
J slipped the apple into one of zara's bags before lifting one of them off her hands. he figured that if she spoke more than a few words next, all her stuff would come tumbling out of her mouth.
zara was grateful when he took the burden, her hand moving to grab the things in her mouth before they slipped out. "thanks," she repeated, reaching into the bag to take the apple. zara wiped it off and took a bite out of it.
she nodded, her mouth full of apple. "of coursh." it was a bit of a dim question -- where else would she bring it? -- but as long as he was carrying the stuff for her, she didn't mind too much.
zara unlocked the door and her pokemon rushed in, creating a noisy cacophony of sound. turned to J, about to indicate to him where the bags should be, but paused.
