Bare feet were thudding against the wood of the dock as the girl vaulted herself off the edge. Artemis yanked her knees to her chest and cannonballed into the ocean. Winter had passed but the cold of the spring water cause a shiver down her spine and a sudden gasp as she swam toward the surface.

A six foot tall and wide whale was waiting above the water, watching his trainer surface. Artemis grabbed onto he Wailmer for support, trying to climb atop the floating ball and wave at the people who walked on the pier. They must have thought she was crazy, swimming in this muggy weather.

"Scaredy Skitties is what you all are! she shouted, insulting and provoking them all- as she usually did to anyone, stranger or not. Artemis dared them to come after her.

the eevee squeaked as the chill of the docks got under its fur and onto its skin. the creature shivered despite being nestled in the warmth of J's parka. he was hardly one of the surprised people watching artemis swim; paper cup of hot chocolate in hand, J was ready to combat the world, and a female swimming in the cold wasn't anything earth-shattering. he watched the scene calmly, as an old man waved his pokémon at her.

Ekans didn't even have legs. So much for walking. But Artemis supposed that it could slither.

The Wailmer had brought the girl closer to the dock and, if she stood, she could have effortlessly reached toward it to pull herself up. But she enjoyed the water- she had been raised in it. But now she didn't have to shout at the man from afar. "You don't look dressed to come swimming with me, buddy? What about your snake?" Artemis was tapping her fingers thoughtfully to her lips. It hadn't occurred to her that a snake could swim. Maybe, if her Seviper ever obeyed her, she'd find out.

fine it was slithering. the old man was slithering his ekans

that just sounded horribly wrong.

"haah?" said the old dude, craning his neck to glance at the female and her wailmer. "snake swim?" he glanced at his ekans, who hissed at him. he figured that the snake could indeed swim; it had enjoyed swimming in the family pool, after all. perhaps the ekans had some water-snake genes somewhere down the line.

"go for it."

with a dead-sounding ploop, the snake dropped into the water and slither-swam towards the wailmer.
