This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Nix sat at the edge of a building in the new city, she felt so out of place! She was used to trees and forests and water and here it was cold and all man made, it was so odd! Her Pokemon moved around in front of her and her eyes moved back to them, the pair seemed to get along well. Nether was a pokemon she wanted or would pick but both liked each other and it was a little amusing how their colors seemed to match each other, something silly she had noticed. Mimi was her partner Pokemon supposedly and she was a nice little girl, but she was a little timid and a bit too nice. Nix didn't see her doing very well in battle for a while, though with time she would get better the trainer imagined. Minx in the other hand was different, very much so. She liked to wander over to new people and had tried talking to a few pokemon too, something very worrying considering she wasn't actually vaccinated.
the waterfront of proserpina always held various facts and figures for J -- here was where this happened, there was where that happened. simple things, really; he could have forgotten about them if he wanted to.
J sat on a wall by the sea, his silver eevee by his side. chrome was a creature he never allowed to evolve -- one day, it would, but that day wasn't coming any time soon. the eevee sat quietly in his lap, giving a small chirp upon seeing a new trainer pass them by.
Nix shifted as she sat and Mimi turned to look at her, minx of course got distracted by something else as soon as her playmate was gone. The little Pokemon spotted another trainer a little while away and started to wander towards them as Mimi came back to nix's side and nudged her hand, making her girl snap from her thoughts and look at the pokemon. "I know, I'll wake up" nix said to the pink Pokemon earning a happy new before she looked to see where minx had gone. The little thing was wandering across the road towards a male trainer with an eevee, something that shot through nix like ice and she stood up to chase her Pokemon. Well she told herself that was why, it was half the reason with the rest being she needed to ask him where he'd gotten that eevee. Maybe if she went there, or asked the person who he may have gotten it from, they could lead her to shadow. By this point, minx was standing in front of the pair and waving a hand to try and get them to look at her. Attention seeking Pokemon and all that
J couldn't be bothered, but chrome the eevee was as good-natured as pokémon were. or at least, nice starter pokémon were.
the eevee glanced at the gothita, chirping its name once. its silver fur had a certain sheen to it; unlike the little psychic-type, it was vaccinated. and vaccinated went a long way in kohaku.
alas, J was no researcher.
"chrome," he said, steadying the eevee with a hand upon its back.
Nix managed to catch up with minx just as the eevee with the male spoke to her, earning a nod from the smaller pokemon. "Im sorry about her, shes a little too freindly" nix said as she came up behind the pokemon and then heard mimi catching up as well. She noted the male holding his own spoke back which made her blink a little on confusion but she had others thing to be doing, "Minx! Really! I've told you about wandering off, its not safe" she suddenly snapped down at the smaller pokemon who turned to her trainer and frowned. Well that was an unhelpful response if ever these was one!
"you'd want to vaccinate her before letting her run about," said J, giving nix a glance. vaccination helped in the long run, and ideally, no one wanted a their precious pokémon to turn into black goo the next day. or attack their own trainer, whichever was their cup of tea. "no-where is really virus-free these days."
he knew a researcher or two who could help out, but he hadn't seen them in a while.
Nix turned her head and felt a prickle of anger bubble in her as the male spoke so simply to her, she wasnt a child! "You say that like you can control a pokemon at all times, i wont hold her back if she really feels she has to go. But Arceus knows i'll look out for her" nix snapped a little sharply as she looked the male over. Well that kinda threw out her little hope of asking him where he got his eevee from, but she couldnt help it, pokemon were closer to family to her than creatures or tools.
J was quite possibly a person who rarely got angry, and had a good amount of patience. training steel-types did that to people. his gaze fell level with hers, and the eevee in his lap cooed.
Nix gave a small hiss as the male simply replied without look to her or emotion, though minx was very interested in the little eevee. It made a sound and nix found her focus moving to the little pokemon, "can i ask, where did you get your eevee?" she asked with a little tilt of her head. She knew it was a long shot, but any eevee was a chance to get a bit closer to finding her sister
it had been too long a time since he had gotten his eevee -- he didn't really remember, but as far as his acquaintances were concerned, there were only two breeders, only one of which J had bothered keeping in touch with.
speaking of which, he ought to give that man a call once in a while. see if he was still interested in having a cup of hot chocolate or whatever he liked; the little shop in nerio had been nice. (then again, it probably was scourge goo they were serving up now ...)
"a friend bred it for me." J glanced at chrome, and felt that he should add more to his statement. "i could give you his number."
Nix did feel a little hope bubble in her as the male looked at his pokemon and then spoke to her, she nodded at his words before she glanced at mimi and minx beside her. she couldnt help it, sure they were good pokemon and all but she wanted to find her sister too. "A number would help me greatly, i've lost someone i could do with all the help i can get to find her" nix said in a voice much smaller than her first. She didnt like to speak of shadow, though that was merely because she was terrified that the eevee would have been changed in to one of the things that she had come here to fight against vertigo
J held his blue and silver one in his hand, ready to make contact and transfer the needed information. mordecai was a nice person; he would try his best to help, if he wasn't off gallivanting on some adventure in the desert with some wild pokémon he'd like to breed someday.
Nix shifted her hand in to her pocket and pulled out her under-used c-gear, it was still shiny and new from where she hadn't used the thing. She knew how to of course, but she didnt like it. It was better to talk to her pokemon than to try and talk to someone she didnt know, how anti social of her. She smiled at this thought as she held out the equipment, she was thankful the guy seemed to remain so calm after all of this vertigo
J took her c-gear and initiated contact. a soft beep from the girl's c-gear later, the trainer took a look at the device's screen to see that the contact had indeed been transferred. "alright," said the trainer, handing it back to her. "there you go."
his gaze returned to the sea as chrome hopped out of his lap, dancing circles around the little gothita and the orange-haired girl.
Nix watched the male with careful eyes though it seemed both mimi and minx were bored by this point and both female turned their attention to the eevee, minx feeling most proud of herself when he moved to dance around her in circles. Though this did turn out to be amsuing as when the little pokemon tried to watch him, she only managed to fall over and land firmly on her back. Nix was watching the male and the nodded as she heard the beep and took back her c-gear, shoving it straight in to her pocket for later. "thanks for the help" she said with a nod of her head, even if he didnt seem nice about it the guy had helped her out a lot vertigo
