This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

GRAND OPENING !
Welcome to KOHAKU REGION's grand opening! If you're interested in joining, come check out our grand opening giveaway!
Okay, here's the shindig about breeder progression: I shoulda changed it before we opened. I knew it was confusing. Unlike all the other classes, their powers improve upon themselves. (Like, the +1/10 is flat out replaced by +2/10.) This is stupid. All the other classes get NEW abilities, not improved abilities.
Moreover, when I realized breeders were underpowered six months ago, I buffed them--by adding even more abilities that were confusing and replaced themselves. For a real video game, it'd be no problem, but for a forum-based game, I think it's all very unnecessary.
This is my attempt at improving them. It'll probably go live in a few days, so give me feedback and thoughts now!
Significant changes and/or additions are in bigger font.
3 Eggs - Every time one of your pokemon breeds, they gain +?? happiness.
5 Eggs - Your chances of successful mating increases by a bonus of +1/10 for every two ?'s the parent has. Use the happiness of the less happy parent to calculate the bonus.
10 Eggs - Only one pokemon out of your mating pairs needs to belong to you. The other pokemon may belong to someone else, as long as you have their permission to use their pokemon for breeding.
15 Eggs - You may attempt to improve the condition of virus infected pokemon. For every ? they have, you have a 1/10 chance of stopping the infection from taking root, to a maximum of 5/10.
20 Eggs - Every time a pokemon of yours breeds, they gain THREE levels.
30 Eggs - For every ? of happiness, a breeder's pokemon learns a future level-up move of your choice.
40 Eggs - Every pokemon of the breeder's with maximum happiness can roll twice and take the better result for their attacks that require a [*roll].
50 Eggs - Pokemon hatched from your eggs may begin with up to FOUR egg moves.
75 Eggs - You may tutor a pokemon in egg moves. You must have a pokemon that knows the egg move. That pokemon can tutor any pokemon in their egg group that egg move, provided that the tutored pokemon can learn that egg move.
100 Eggs - Every pokemon of the breeder's with maximum happiness gains the permanent effects of one stat buff. This permanent buff effect cannot be stacked with a buff attack.
150 Eggs - Pokemon hatched from your eggs begin at LV15 with TWO stat boosts. They gain no further stat boosts through leveling up.
200 Eggs - Breeders may understand the speech of any pokemon (including those that belong to other PCs) at maximum happiness.
300 Eggs - For every ? a pokemon has, their effective level is raised by 1. A lv150 pokemon with maximum happiness is treated as lv160.
400 Eggs - You may choose which species (of the two parent pokemon) your eggs will hatch as. You can also choose what four egg moves they start with.
500 Eggs - Every pokemon of the breeder's with maximum happiness gains the permanent effects of a second stat buff. This permanent buff effect cannot be stacked with a buff attack.
I'm not a big fan of increased chances being based on hearts, because, for a non-combative character (like Ludis), that means it'll be ten threads per pokemon if you want to have 10/10 breeding chance for a non-rare poke, right? Then that's ten threads per poke if you want to breed. I mean, if I really have to I'll push Ludis into battles, and when the time comes, scourge battles, but I was expecting breeders to not have to fight, or at least not being hindered by not fighting.

i think that's p great, but for 5 eggs: "for every two ??" .... does that mean +1 for every four hearts or +1 for every two i'm assuming +1 for every two but it's a little misleading
tuyet I actually put the two hearts in hopes that it'd be clearer, but I guess that failed. I'll go ahead and reduce it to one heart.
Also, regarding your earlier question that I forgot to answer, yes, the highest success rate is now 7/10 for breeding rares of different parents. I actually like that, but if people think 10/10 chance on everything is the way to go, then I can stuff in the +3/10 for max happiness back into the progression table.

This is much better. Such an accommodating mod ; u;b Edit: Would it have to be a successful breeding, though?
Weasel Nope, wouldn't have to be successful for the ??'s. That you don't get any eggs is punishment enough. Besides, the hilarious implication is that the pokemon had a banging good time, and they did even if they didn't make any babies.
It has come to my attention that breeders want money. (Btw, who is aquaman on skype? Is that CAEDMON? I have no idea who I'm talking to half the time, I swear...)
I want to implement this as part of breeder progression, meaning that non-breeders don't get any money from breeding.
Atm, I want to place it at 50 Eggs, and bump everything else back (and creating a 125 Egg spot).
The real question is how much money you guys get.
Whoever aquaman is suggested 10% per egg sold. I'm not doing that sort of math, sorry.
My initial proposal was $50/egg bred, to be added when you use the breeding farm successfully. I did the math on this though. It'd be, for an advanced breeder, about $500 every three days, maximum of $750. Unless you're attempting to breed only rares and your luck sucks ball, you're likely to get at least $1000 a week (max $1500/week). Imo, that's insane money for filling out a form. Civilian journalists don't get as much for far more work.
Alternative option is $100 per successful clutch. That's $300 max a week, with $600 max, and no money for single eggs.
A slightly messy option is to say that a breeder can sell entire clutches for the $50/egg price (or some other value, probably scaling depending on common/common, common/rare, or rare/rare)--but those eggs don't go into the egg shop. The theory would be that instead of donating the eggs to Eos, you're selling them yourself.
A sensible option (ICly) is to give money based on how many eggs actually sell. I ain't keeping track of that though. I'd be more than willing to let breeders keep track of the amount of sold eggs and report it in some thread at the end of the month (maybe during the AC). In this case, money could be percentage based and much more generous, say 50% of sales. This also HUGELY rewards breeding rares and vaccinated eggs. I like this option, but it requires breeders to keep checking the egg shop and keep track of stuff.
There are probably other options that I haven't thought of yet. I just wanted to get this post up in-between classes to get feedback on the idea asap. So here.

all three proposals are okay. keeping track of the egg shop can be a little bit of a hassel but it's not too bad? but what breeders(i think?) mostly need money for is vaccines, tms (for egg moves), and eggs. vaccines cost a buttload. i like the 50/egg but i agree it's a lot. maybe a cap for the week? and then breeders can keep track of how much they've made through the week.
