The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

it was a tiresome sort of dream. a lot of discussion, mostly civil. he had a bad feeling about her most, if not all of the time. they were related somehow, and he was convinced she was related to the deaths in his family. he didn't know if his grandmother was still alive.
he was at the other end of kohaku now, though. grandma was in sol city. he couldn't exactly visit her, but he didn't want to go home, either.

it was on this day that grayson particularly missed bacchus town. sure it had a reputation, but the place was lively. he missed his parents but moreso he missed the pokemon ranch. there were little baby pokemon everywhere, running to and fro. people would come and adopt one, take away one of his friends. fiends.

"here, have some food. you'll need to keep up your energy as your body heals." the male offered some pokechow, home made, from his pocket.
the flygon cocked its head upon sensing some other creatures in the vicinity, its lips slowly pulling back in a snarl. ignatius rested a hand on zalitz's neck to calm it down, and turned back to see what exactly it had saw.
it was a breeder with a gogoat. he had yet to see this person before in the city; at the same time, he wasn't exactly a man who observed and remembered every trivial detail. what was unimportant was gradually phased out for more important facts and figures.
ignatius retrieved his pokédex and scanned the eating gogoat.

grayson felt eyes on him, and he looked around. there was a fellow pointing a pokedex in his direction, and he narrowed his eyes. "what do you want?" he demanded, frowning. "you could at least ask if you want to see ionis. aren't you a rude one. bug off, weirdo."
although that flygon of his was quite the fine specimen. grayson vaguely wondered what moves it knew. would be a good match for his own? ohohoho.

it was sort of melting, yeah. ignatius pointed his pokédex at it. as it filed away data on the discolored creature, he poked it a bit with a scalpel he had on him at all times. the scourge rhydon was somewhat dead, but still very much alive considering how everything in its body seemed to be converting rapidly into goo. before it melted on the sidewalk, ignatius recalled it into the virus ball.
"fascinating," said ignatius, "it was rotting from the inside, even if its skin was intact. poking it would likely have caused it to explode."
