The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

back to pal park they went. things hadn't changed the last time J was here. all he did was beat up cameron with mordecai before the wo-man absconded. (he also learnt what absconded meant, but that was a story for another day.)
karimi could have been better, could have been worse these days. that seemed to be the default state of the world, so nobody really minded.
she looks out to the scourge-infested pal park and feels a little sad at its enduring beauty. it's a reminder that she no longer has any such thing to protect. while decima is left to rot, it seems that bacchus was really the main city that was worth saving. to the rest of kohaku, anyway.
well, best not to let the scourge soil this place. she turns to see another man standing ahead of her. all she sees is the back of his head. "it's really pretty, isn't it?"

In Bacchus there had once lived a troupe of traveling performers, composed of three generations of the same family. They had been a big hit with the constant flood of tourists. One of their most popular acts had starred their own pets, a flock of drifblim who carried them away, away far into the sky like magic.
When the scourge hit Bacchus, both the family and their drifblim had fled as far as Pal Park. And there they had all died, although some deaths took longer than others.
at this moment, J wished he had a pokédex to find out what typing they were. considering how they were floating in the air, he thought that they were most likely part-flying. they seemed relatively harmless despite their discoloration -- but like any and all scourge, they had to be put down.
all part of the job.

karimi did happen to have a pokedex. she also happened to have a drifblim among her normal-pokemon entries, which wasn't the case for the swalot for some reason. she brings up a portrait with a few quick taps.
"drifblim." she starts, loud enough for j to hear. "ghost and flying type, fairly bulky but poor defense."

The drifblim took offense at being attacked so suddenly before they'd even started to try and rend the flesh snacks limb from limb! They fell upon their opponents with great hunger and their natural showmen's tendency toward flamboyance.

the drifblim's movements and attacking reminded J of someone. he didn't know who, but he suddenly had an image of a turquoise-haired man with a white cape, flamboyantly waltzing around the battlefield with aquatic grace.

J's pokémon were relatively injured. the magnezone had escaped the brunt of the explosion, but his kirlia was down for the count. he recalled it back into its pokéball. all he had been doing at the pokémon center recently, was to send his kirlia for treatment. it seemed to like fainting a whole lot.
