This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Aiden didn't have any idea what he was doing here. Part of him remembered falling asleep, but he wasn't really sure of anything, as per usual. "Hey, check that out." He laughed, and the marill by his side laughed with him. A chirping bagon, who knew?
Lifting a hand, he waved it at the lady standing not too far off. "Hey there! Mind sparing some time for a battle?" While waiting for an answer, he lifted up his pokedex and scanned the creature, raking in its information as it flowed onto the screen, grinning with anticipation.
He shrugged his shoulders. "I guess so. I take it you're a veteran around these parts?" The rational part of him wanted to supervise Marill - it was the pokemon's first battle, after all - but he didn't know its moves, he realized, and he didn't really feel like looking them up, either.
"Oh, I'm Aiden, by the way." Instead, he stuck out his hand, then retracted it, unsure if that had gotten out of style since the outbreak, seeing as it was a virus and all.
"Ah, it's not that." Nevertheless, he grinned and shook her hand, bunching up his lips at the rare human contact, having gone so long without. "I didn't know if you wanted to or not. Some people don't like that kind of stuff." Mother and father certainly didn't.
Nodding at both, he snuck a glance at Marill, briefly wondering if the round shape of its body could make it bounce to greater heights. "My brother says it's because of the outbreak. I used to live in decima, before this mess."

Recalling the creature with a strange sort of fascination, Aiden rocked back on his heels, turning to face Thalia. "Hey, that was really interesting, thanks for showing me the ropes! Maybe next time, I'll be able to beat you." He scratched his hair and laughed. "Doubt it, though, heh. Oh well."
And with that, he left, waving again and shouting 'see you later' over his shoulder, whenever 'later' might've been.
