This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

It was a chilly day down by the docks. A few wingull were brave enough to venture into the cold, and squawked through the morning air. Céleste glanced at them briefly before looking down at her feet again as she walked.
She was a Ranger now. She'd registered officially and everything, and now she had a responsibility. She was here to protect and defend the people and the pokémon of the whole world. She just had no idea where to start. Titania was perched atop her shoulder, still the same little mouse who'd played hide and seek and catch the yarn with her. Now, though, she was also supposed to help Céleste protect others, and also to protect Céleste herself. Everything was changing so fast, and neither of them were too sure if they could keep up with it.
"A baptism of fire is a baptism nonetheless," said Céleste, glancing up at Titania with a tired smile. "Shall we see if we get ourselves burned?"
Céleste headed down to the less frequented parts of the docks, the parts that wild Pokémon called home. It was probably a good place to start looking for anything out of the ordinary, and at the very least they'd get some training in.
a goomy shivers down by the docks, looking more and more like a scoop of blueberry ice cream by the second. why nobody at nintendo typed it as part water, nobody will know, but the small dragon pokemon did not appreciate all the ice and snow. at all.
magnolia docks was usually plenty wet for the goomy, but his membrane is starting to freeze. so maybe he was a little lacking in self preservation instinct (or maybe it was because of it), the goomy makes headway towards the first human that it sees that day in an attempt to snuggle against their pant leg. maybe then the snow ontop of his head would begin to melt.

"Hello there, sweetie!" said Céleste. She crouched down and looked closer at the globby Pokémon. There were patches of snow on his head, and there were touches of frost on his antennae and his... feet? Céleste had no idea what kind of Pokémon he was, but she knew he didn't look happy with the cold, trying to shake the ice and snow from his body. She reached out a hand and brushed some of the snow from his head. He looked up at her, grateful for the relief from the cold.
Titania jumped down from Céleste's shoulder, and sniffed at the Goomy. She scurried around, looking at him from all angles, before patting him on the head with the flat of her tail. The Goomy looked up at the tail, confused. He leaned his head back and attempted to sniff at the tail, but Titania withdrew it before he could.
"He seems rather friendly," she said, scurrying back up onto Céleste's shoulder. "He smells somewhat of human, but I know not whether that is due to being around them or being in the ownership of one."
Céleste nodded. "Do you perchance have an owner, little one?" She couldn't see any collar or other human items on the Goomy, but that was certainly no guarantee. She gently picked him up, carefully unsticking him from the ground, and nestled him in the crook of her arm where he would be warmer.
She headed further into the docks, hoping to find anyone who might know whether the Goomy had a trainer.
the goomy sneezes a little. it had been abandoned by its trainer for a very, very long time. or perhaps the trainer was dead. that seemed to be a very common occurence in kohaku these days.
it sneezes again, but against the human's arms this time.
the docks are mostly empty at this time, except for a few stubborn fishermen and trainers who had nothing better to do than to bag a few ice pokemon. either way, most of their concentration is directed at the open sea, and not for any pokemon on the docks.
[heads up, your thread was missed for awhile because mod threads are usually marked with [mod] in the title so that we know to get to them. also, we rely on the tagging system of @username a lot in order to keep track of what to respond to. otherwise, none of us check any of our threads regularly lol.]

After a while of heading around the docks, cuddling the Goomy close for warmth, Céleste sighed. The trainers and fishermen were much more interested in what was in the water, and certainly none of them were looking for a pokemon on the docks themselves. No-one looked particularly worried, so it wasn't likely that any of them were missing a pokémon.
"Perhaps he does not have a trainer," said Titania, keeping watch behind Céleste for anyone who might have lost the Goomy. "The smell of human was rather faint, it may simply be the result of living at the docks."
Céleste looked down at the Goomy and hugged it a little tighter. "That does make rather a lot of sense," she said. The Goomy looked back up at her, and she smiled. "At the very least we should be able to find somewhere a touch warmer for you to stay for now." That was a thing rangers did, right? She knew they kept Pokémon safe, but she'd heard tales of rangers who went face to face with the Scourge. And this certainly wasn't the Scourge, this was just... nannying. It was much more to her liking, but she knew she couldn't stay at this for too long.
First things first - get the Goomy safe.
[Thank you for the heads-up. Can you tell this is my first thread? ]
goomy isn't even looking. it stopped several weeks ago. the small dragon seems content to simply rest in the girl's arms. it nods slightly at the ranger's suggestion.
at the same time, the cold starts to take a toll on the goomy. it sneezes, blowing bubbles out of its nostrils. maybe it's running a fever? the pokemon wouldn't know.
[np lol. uh. is there anything you want to do w/ this goomy? i mean i think you can keep it if you have pokeballs, but it can't fight for you until you get a second styler]
