This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Thalia sighed, balanced the syringe and cigarette in one hand, hoping she didn't drop ash from the latter on the former, and dug her knife out to give to Neo.
"And here I thought you were some sort of knife to be used."
Neo took Thalia's knife without too much regard to its cleanliness. She sliced over the now faint line where the previous cut had been.
Distantly, she watched her wrist bleed. Her fingers were going numb, but she searched for a vein on her other arm. "Here," she said to Thalia, pointing to a spot on her inner arm, although her arm was tiny enough that if you punched a syringe anywhere in it, you had a pretty decent chance of hitting a vein.
Thalia tried not to stare at the arm that was steadily oozing blood and focused on injecting the cure properly into Neo. That faint blue line was probably a vein, right?
It was a vein.
"Good luck," she said, emptying the syringe into Neo's arm and then stepping back.

Neo felt fine, all things considered. That meant she felt light-headed, bloodless, a little nauseous, exceptionally drunk, and quite a bit belligerent, but otherwise, she'd had worse days.
The cure didn't feel like anything special. It stung going in, like a particularly unpleasant flu shot, but nothing after that was noteworthy. There were no death throes, no heart popping out of her chest, just a curious sense of liberation, a sense that the virus' incessant whisperings were gone.
But something inside her seized and writhed. It felt like burning--like rejection. Her nervous system informed her that now would be a good time to panic, maybe to scream, and Neo serviced that with an audible guh before carefully sinking down to the ground. She touched her abdomen, putting dots together to form a picture.
She closed her eyes. "Makes sense," she admitted, to no one in particular.
Sighing--this had been a long day--Neo pointed over to the wall. "Can someone get me a first aid kit? There's one there; I just need the bandages. And I need to go to a hospital, when I'm done bleeding."
neo falling to the ground with a groan was an appropriate reaction for someone who had just injected herself with the cure, he supposed. he was surprised that she didn't have a more violent reaction to it, considering how it had been on thalia.
all the same, J offered her one of his blood replenishing herbs, which had worked remarkably well before. it would do the same for her current injuries.
Neo's reaction to the cure seemed like almost no reaction at all. Thalia wondered what that meant for herself. Had it even done anything, besides eject the crystal? It was looking more and more likely that she had never been infected. Perhaps the crystal's residual scourge taint had been what the cure latched onto.
"Sounds good," she said. "I can fly us there--or we can teleport again?" She looked at J.
She took the herb and peeled off several of its leaves, laying them each over the bloody gash on her wrist. Miraculously, the bleeding slowed and then stopped. Her pulse grew stronger and soon she had feeling and warmth in her fingertips again.
She shook her head, part disbelief and part awe. This shouldn't be possible. Herbs don't bring people back from the brink of death. "Someday, you must tell me more about these miracle herbs of yours."
With a steadying hand on the table, Neo pulled herself back up. Blood--since when did she have so much of it--rushed to her head. She waited for the world to stop spinning, then glanced between J and Thalia. Maybe she should tell them. No, it could wait. It wasn't like she was expecting anytime soon anyhow.
"Teleporting would be faster, although it doesn't seem as accurate as choosing your own course in flight."
"you never asked before. but alright," J agreed. herbs were at least something he could expand more on given the chance to. anything else was beyond his capabilities (except music. he was good with that).
"give it a second chance," J said, retrieving his kirlia. he wasn't concerned about his or thalia's combined luck that ran into the infinite expanse of negatives. he was used to it.
