This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

She didn't think that she would be battling as soon as she was, but she had heard that this was a great place for her to start building her pokemon farm. There were a lot of little pokemon that fit into her group."Come out, I won't bite." She lied, she would bite, but it was for a good cause!
Magnemite hated this place. Dark, damp, with a smell somewhere between dust and rotting mildew, the warehouse was a miserable experience for a pokemon with a steel-plated body that ran on electricity. It buzzed around irritably, knocking boxes over and wondering when day turned to night and night bled into day. Not that it mattered much. In the farthest corner of the warehouse, the night might as well have been permanent.
Company was not welcome - this new intruder, with her loud voice, cut into its private brooding time like a knife, disturbing the silence. With a angry exclamation(that came out as more of a grumble) the Magnemite hovered out from its hiding spot and aimed a bolt of electricity in the girl's direction, hoping to encourage its general message of get out, go away, you're not welcome, any or all of the above would suffice.
Luckily she dodged the magnemite's attack. She had never thought about going into minerals before. It might serve her well. "Hey hey calm down!" She said. This thing looked stronger than most of her pokemon. She decided to send out two of them. "If you come with me nicely, you won't get hurt."
If the magnemite had anything that resembled a nose, it might've huffed in indignation. Humans were always like this, thinking that they were the best, that everybody wanted to go with them. What if it didn't want to be chained to humans? It certainly didn't want to be chained to this girl, who thought she could just claim she had the power to hurt it without showing some proof.
Admittedly, that dodge had been pretty impressive, but it could've been a fluke. Magnemite made a sound halfway between a robot beep and an engine purr, then attacked the new intruders with renewed vigor. It didn't calm down - got even more worked up, if possible.
This thing had spirit. Florance had to admit she liked that, it was a fighter, just like her. "You like the name Horus, maybe?" She asked. She was determined to get through this.
"Do you know about the scourge, magnemite? Can you understand me?"
"Well, I'm trying to fight them. I was wondering if you wanted to fight them with me. Plus, its cold in here." She was shivering."You've got spirit, and I like that. I'm sure you haven't had a cushiony life and neither have I. I wanna make a difference, make some type of purpose in life, and I'm sure you do too. Maybe I have to prove myself though, is that what you want?"
"Don't use supersonic, Copy. I want it to hear me." Hol dodged thundershock. Hol was hit by electroweb.
Hol used spite.
Copy used transform. Copy turned into magnemite! Copy used tackle.
(Since we don't use PP here, maybe magnemite can't use electroweb for a turn or so?)
The magnemite understood this human perfectly - problems arose only when it tried to communicate back. Perhaps part of its irritation stemmed from the inability to speak 'human speech', perhaps not. All it gave as a response to Florance's question was a series of loud noises, like someone was trying to start an engine but failing, multiple times.
It did feel somewhat sympathetic towards her, though - the warehouse never changed with the temperatures outside, but with a steel plated hide, it didn't feel much of anything besides heat(extreme heat, at that). However, intruders were still intruders, and the sooner they left, the sooner magnemite could get back to doing more important things. Like brooding, for example.
It also didn't appreciate being copied, but that was a different story altogether. At least there was one of its fellow kin to complain to while this battle took place.

Florance sighed. Horus - she decided that would be his, its? name - seemed to really want to try to talk to her. "Sh, we'll fix this. Horus, haven't you ever thought of, I don't know, reproducing?" She asked. Maybe not though, mineral pokemon tended not to have genders.
Electricity hit Hol, and hit her hard. She made some noise that sounded a lot like a wail, and it made Florance shiver.
Hol was hit by thundershock. Hol used hypnosis. WezMvb_7 less than or equal to 70 Hol used lick.
No, I don't have any interest in mating for fun. You humans are weird. Was what Magnemite tried to say. What came out was decidedly less elegant, a series of crackles like someone being shocked, which only heightened its frustration.
Being licked wasn't as disgusting as it looked, mostly because the steel hide prevented it from feeling much, usually. Magnemite twirled its magnets, shaking some of the gastly's slobber off while looking slightly less disgruntled than before.
"If you're happy here, then so be it." She said. "It's not going to stop me from kicking your ass. We're through talking, but if you change your mind. You're always welcome with me."

The magnemite made a noise that sounded suspiciously like a curse, pokemon-speak wise. Safe to say that it was more than just a little bit upset, but the fact that it only had one eye to convey all that emotion was difficult, and it more or less just looked like it was squinting at something in the distance.
It couldn't even pout, actually. And that was something worth pouting over, if anything.

It was cute, kinda. Florance did worry a bit about Hol, she had to admit. She didn't really know how many hits she could really take. Hol was hit by thundershock. Hol used ice punch. Hol used hypnosis. 2lotTTLT < 70 Copy used supersonic. > 55 Copy used thundershock.
Magnemites couldn't sweat, could they? Regardless, the dual type was starting to feel the effects of battle wearing down on it - it felt tired and wanted to brood, like any other adolescent pokemon did.
It made another noise and stubbornly twisted its magnets in circles, hovering closer to the ground.
