This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

"So I've noticed. I'm glad," she replied, honestly.
Still, Neo eyed him critically. She reached up, her hand brushing the blood stain on J's collar. "You need some dry-cleaning done. And maybe a shower."
J gave her a quick smile, but tensed when she brushed his collar. a part of him was still on edge, as if she'd suddenly stab another needle into him without warning.
"i've got more suits in the locker," he said.
honestly, he'd forgotten that he was walking around with a bloodstained suit.
"Even before you settled down here? Why?" Her tone was mildly curious, light like she didn't care. She didn't care, not really, but the suits reminded her of Delta, and that likeness was... uncanny. Uncomfortable, even.
"If it's my job, at least try to be careful about the blood. It doesn't wash out easy."
"ever since i woke up in kohaku," said J. he didn't mention that he had been groomed to wear suits prior to and during performances. he wasn't going to talk about his past. "feels natural to."
he used to wear t-shirts, but that sense had been knocked out of him. again, his past. he wasn't fond of it.
"then let it be," he said about the blood, "could always get a new one."
"Must've been fun walking through the region in that. Well, at least it's been a bloody long winter. It must be toasty dressed to kill like that in the summer."
She sighed. "I'll look into that." Apparently sorting out his wardrobe was a part of her job too.
"Shopping," she repeated. "We should. It'll be fun--for me. Maybe not for you. Might not prove necessary anyway. Depends on what I find in your locker."
how terrible could shopping be? J doubted it would get any more worse than what he had lived through. if he could stand before neo having survived more than a few mishaps, he was certain that he could survive a shopping trip.
"clothes?" J said. he thought back to what he shoved in the locker. "... firearms," he added, after a while. donovan had told him where to get them, and he decided to stock up.
It was going to be fine. If J really didn't want to go, he could just let Neo take measurements and go on her own. It should not, barring catastrophic rolls, be a life-or-death adventure.
"...I'm not sure we can go to the same place to buy you new suits and handguns. Those might be in separate departments." If not separate parts of town.
J wasn't so sure about his luck. he could end up getting strangled by some crazy long-sleeved shirts, considering his and thalia's track record. the both of them had passed out more than a few times doing whatever in the past.
"i can manage the handguns," said J, calmly. he hadn't planned on letting neo know where to get them. it didn't exactly qualify as a normal sort of hobby. "maybe i should stop wearing suits."
