This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Verte slowly made her way into the lab, taking in the equipment scattered around the room as she did so. She trailed a hand behind her, knocking on a table as she stopped in the center of the room. "Hello? I'm here to see Professor Cypress."
The professor is not in. Mrs. Sybil appeared out of the back lab area, her face as impassive as ever. He is out on an errand, I suspect that he will not return for awhile. She also suspected that he had broken a few things by this point, but there was no need for this stranger to have a poor image of the professor without even having met him.
You are here for a pokemon, correct? A couple of papers hovered out of the back room, followed by a briefcase. One of the papers stopped in front of the Gothitelle, and she held it up at eye level, not really looking at the stranger. I'll need to know your name, first. For the sake of procedure.
"Of course." If Verte is disturbed by a pokemon taking charge like this, she doesn't show it - she's seen weirder things. And the Gothitelle clearly knows what to do, so she doesn't mind. Even if the lack of respect by the pokemon irks her a little. "Katherine D'Verte."
Mrs. Sybil nodded, looking satisfied. The Gothitelle took a pen from the desk and crossed out a name on the list eos had sent over.
Mrs. Verte, these are the pokemon that have been prepared for you. The briefcase hovered over to her and opened by itself to reveal two rows of pokeballs. A little hologram appeared over them and showed a 3-D image of the pokemon contained inside. They have all been labeled for you to see. Please inform me after you've made your decision.
It's a difficult choice. It really is. Three out of the ten are pokemon that she's grown up with, are familiar with. It'd be easy to train them, she just has to use the same training regimens and strategies. But maybe that's why she choose a different pokemon instead. The Zorua is a pokemon that she hasn't had the pleasure of training, working with before. She chooses it.
Very well. Mrs. Sybil filled out some more information on one of the papers while the pokeball of choice hovered towards her hand. In her other hand, she held a small, drawstring bag. The pokeball went inside of it, and the entire thing proceeded to hover into Verte's hand.
The task ahead of you is not an easy one. Mrs. Sybil sounded like she'd repeated this a hundred times over already - and she had, in a way. Exercise caution. That was the equivalent of the professor's 'be careful out there', or as close to it as Mrs. Sybil would ever get to saying such.
level 10 scratch, leer, pursuit, fake tears, detect + stat boost of your choice! (the pouch contains trainer starter items that can be found in the rules/class dex)
The warning is something that she's lived for herself. Her impatience had killed her entire team, after all, and this is a chance to start over. Verte's not about or rush headlong into a scourge fight.
She puts the pouch in the pack that she's brought with her, and leaves, silently, closing the door behind herself.
