He went from experimenting with foods to books to the human mind, attracted to the casinos because they were the ultimate money-making machines, and he wanted to know why. When he was too young to play, he stole from them, didn't get caught because they weren't smart enough to catch him. Somewhere along the way he picked up a live test subject, a friend, if you could even call it that, and he dragged him along into the experiment because it was always safer to repeat tests for accuracy. When he became better at the game, he(they) began to gamble together. Luke rose at billards and he turned his attention to poker, the ultimate experiment of bluffs and lies and deceit, traits that he unknowingly picked up along the way. Nothing lasts forever, though, not even experiments, and the day that they got caught was the day that he left nerio behind, his partner, friend, test subject lost somewhere in the fray of arrests and apprehensions. Natural selection, he supposed. Take the results of that experiment, jot them down for future reference and move on to the next. Life's full of experiments. Win some, lose some.
