This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

This was indeed a beautiful place a area of wonder she she drifted in and out of consciousness and entered a reality that proved to be much more promising than the next. Her eyes gently rolled east and west around the misty landscape, imagining what sorts of wondrous pokemon lurked and awaited her notice. Or the other way around... Nagini coiled around her body, slithering down onto the cool moist ground as she surveyed her surroundings. The ekans hissed contemplatively, twisting her head around to view her trainer with a collective gaze.
It had been a few days since they had met, and so far the ekans didn't seem too fazed (in a negative way) about spending time out of her pokeball to be at her mistress' side. Her tongue flickered out of her maw, tasting the air for any scents. The moistness was apparent, as well as the muddy, vaporous earth that covered them underneath. Vic eyed her pokemon with an arching stare, a hiss of her own making its way across her lips.
The sooner they found a pokemon, the better. She had places to be, and pokemon collecting could be very tedious and annoying. Nagini seemed eager enough to bare her fangs and stretch out her coils, though, and her bike was parked by the entrance towards this strange place, locked of course, to prevent her stolen property to be...well, stolen.

the mist was light today. however, the air was damp. water seemed to clink to every oxygen particle, making you cold and giving you goosebumps. (if you could get them of course.) on this particularly damp morning there was a dual type reveling in the weather. it was always at least slightly damp in the valley, but today was like vacation! croagunk was sitting on a log. in one hand he had a stick, in the other a sharp rock and was whittling away at his stick. his cheeks puffed out with every breath and his eyes were concentrated on the task at hand. he wasn't making it sharp, the point was dull. growing bored the pokemon tossed his treasures away. he had seen a human doing it and became curious. this wasn't exciting as he had expected. as he tossed his prizes away he heard something.
the toad pokemon peeked through some brush. another human. and a pokemon too. another poison type. croagunk frowned. there were too many of them around here. he didn't want to share his valley. at least not with an ekans.
"croaaa, croaaaa. croaa."
his voice was deep and scratchy as he leapt from the underbrush. he focused his attention on the ekans, luckily for the trainer the ekans had moved from her shoulders. croagunk looked around and spotted a mud puddle. the goop was thick and slimy. he dipped in a hand before flinging the mud at the ekans in a mud slap. this fruity little purple snake wasn't leaving here without a good battle. and one croagunk planned on winning.
the croagunk racked his brain for something else to do. anything else. he knew the piercing gaze of an ekans was deadly. like the story of the gorgon. raising his clean hand he wiggled his fingers in a menacing manner using taunt. if he could keep that ekans from using leer or glare, this battle would go a lot smoother. sure he'd have to take a little more damage, but so be it. you had to make sacrifices, and in the end; it was worth it.[/div]
Vic approached a shady looking outcrop, vines and empty branches reaching out for her unkempt hair as she approached the loch. The land was halfway cloaked in mist, an eerie setting to catch potential pokemon and train her hardened companion. The ekans seemed happy enough to follow her, but even if she only wanted to obtain power and exceed expectation. Her fingers brushed against some of the foliage, instantly reeling her hand back as the touch was slippery. She pinched her fingers together, a slight goo collecting under her fingernails. Disgusting place.
Tasting the air proved to be an effective action, nostrils twitching uselessly as tongue flared from her partially opened maw. Ekaaaans She hissed accusingly towards the source of the scent, a crogunk. The noise vibrated in her throat, uttering venomously towards the poisonous amphibian. Prey...She licked her lips, edging closer towards the creature as he neared them as well, croaking a threat. With provocation, she would strike, and such provocation came at the flinging scoop of mud across her scales. She coiled with annoyance, spitting her discontent as her tail lashed behind her.
The insult only added to her attentions, her focus aimed towards the crogunk as her trainer prepared to instruct her pokemon how to handle the situation. She had skill in battling with her cousin's seviper, so she had a vague idea how to address the situation. "Nagini...Are you going to let that frog walk all over you? Show him how we treat those who are rude to us." She briefly glanced towards her dull drawl of her voice. Eh, perhaps they'd get along...if she wasn't so damn bossy. She rose to her full height, tail arching behind her and launching the mandible towards the amphibian for a full force of her aqua tail attack to drench that grin right off his face.

Croagunk was happy his little mud attack worked. Seeing as Ekans was a fellow poison type he knew just home much ground attacks effected them. His taunt was apparently working as those glowing eyes of the Ekans had not lit up for some form of defensive move. And Croagunk liked it that way. His cheeks puffed as he breathed, trying to decipher what the pokemon was going to do next. As the snake reared herself up, Croagunk immediately expected to be bitten. What he didn't know was Ekans had an egg move up her sleeve. And especially because her trainer didn't use the command, Croagunk was at a loss.
There was a swirling of water around the Ekans' rattle, where the water came from Croagunk had no idea. He was mesmerised by the site. The water was beautiful, and clean looking. Not like the murky water around these parts. "Croooaaa."
He managed to choke at, still in awe. He took a few stumbling steps forward. Bad idea. The tail came swinging toward him. It hooked him right around the abdomen and swung him a good five feet away. Croagunk expect to be in pain. However as he stood up he felt oddly refreshed. His dry skin ability had kicked in. Any damage taken from his impact into the ground was healed as he had absorbed the glimmering water into his skin.
"Croa, croaa." That was foolish. Water attacks would do nothing on him because of his dry skin, now if they had a fire move up their sleeve...then he'd be in trouble. However, he had the upper hand here. A smirk crossed the monotone Pokemon's face for a brief moment before disappearing again. He used mud slap again, throwing as much rock filled muck as he could at the opposing Pokemon.[/div]
The woman's lips froze in mid frown, her eyes witnessing the harmless attack bounce right off the croagunk's form. What the hell? She flipped through her pokedex and discovered the problem; this pokemon appeared to have the dry skin ability, and since that's the case, water moves did little damage against it. Vic's eyes narrowed, gritting her teeth to the creature. Is this ‘thing’ going to make a fool out of her? The woman took a careful step back, hands lifting from her sides. TCH! Her tongue clicked the roof of his mouth. This isn’t some pathetic creature you can easily deal with.
Ekans, she concluded, wouldn't be a good match up against this amphibian, especially if she couldn't set up with a paralyzing glare to stop the frog in his tracks. But the pokemon had already proven his cunning and ability to wedge himself out of tricky situations...he must have fought with ekans before. The hand that rose from her side edged closer towards her pokeball, calling the snake back as the serpent glanced behind her with a reluctant hiss. She released her other pokemon, Tyrone the Aerodactyl, to fight her fight now, and the prehistoric creature spread out his wings threatening, the ground attack melting from his frame harmlessly.
The massive beast reared back with a shrill screech to greet the day, more than eager to escape the confines of his pokeball. He turned his head briefly to see his surroundings, and snorted - uninterested in anything except winning this fight. His next breath expelled a harsh metallic bay, rings of confusing wave energies expelled from his jaws towards the frog in an attempt to confuse him. Kicking off the ground into the air, the aerodactyl plunged for the other pokemon, jaws gaping with razor sharp fangs.
"Tyrone, time to heat things up!" The beast chuckled a low tone of agreement as flames licked at his maw, fangs coated in the reddish fire as he aimed to tear his jaws into the flesh of the pokemon.

If the toad Pokemon could show any expression, it would currently be of happiness and smugness at the Ekans' plight. This should be easy now that it couldn't hurt him, and he almost let out a happy cry when he saw the poisonous snake being recalled back into its orb with a reddish light. He was slightly confused. The confusion soon turned to irritation. The coward! Fleeing back into its orb to escape him wasn't something that he enjoyed, and he grumbled a few nasty "Croa"s under his breath.
His quiet mumbling was quickly cut short as a Pokemon was released into the area. The thing was like a massive relic of a Pokemon, and of all things, he wanted it off his territory. He even had to crane his neck to see it properly, and he didn't really want to; it was that big. The...thing...screeched a scream that the little blue amphibian had to cover his ears (or where his ears would be) after a second of its intensity. But the damage was done, and as he removed his hands, everything suddenly became weird.
The underbrush that was tickling his belly seemed to turn purple and the trees flipped around. He saw rivers flowing in two, make that three directions, and he couldn't stand it. Everything was so confusing all of a sudden, and the intense heat that had rapidly sunk into his flesh wasn't helping. Heat suddenly overtook his vision, and he felt like he was literally on fire; not a good thing with dry skin. He, in his daze, attempted to fight back with a loud "Croaa!" But, he had absolutely no idea where this thing that had confused him was, so it could have been in a completely wrong direction.

The Aerodactyl's fangs clicked together excitedly, much too eager to escape the confines of his tiny pokeball. For such a large, seemingly overwhelming creature, he lived up to the stereotypical standards of 'bully', wanting nothing more than to force upon this pokemon all his pent up aggression at being kept inside his circular cage. Its ears twitched at the sound of the amphibian's croak, alerting it to the fact that it had fallen prey to his deceptive screech. He circled the frog like a vulture, shoulders rocking up and down as he flew in a predatory fashion above him.
Vic waited for Tyrone to swinging sideways to avoid the Astonish as it powered up, but it missed him, hitting a tree in a flurry of discarded branches, the marsh rising up in a brief splash. She blinked towards the Croagunk, watching it sway and roll its eyes in a dazed manner as it tried to shake off the feeling of unease and confusion. It would be futile to win against Tyrone's appetite for fighting, especially when he was this excited and unpredictable. If she wasn't careful, he'd try to eat him!
"Wing attack!" She called out to her pokemon. The dinosaur swooped down, wings like V's against his compact chest before slashing them towards the frog, claws kicking through the air like daggers.
TYRONE Aerodactyl used Wing Attack and did not attack
Everything was still being pretty darn crazy in the Croagunk's eyes, and he didn't like it one bit. In fact, he decided, he was just going to sit right here and wait until that tree stopped flipping around and that grass stopped changing colors. He hated this confusion, and the one who had caused it, merely because he hated being confused. He was the proud owner of this sector of land, and he was not going to be confused out of it!
But, before he knew it, the grass had stopped changing colors, and he was beginning to see fuzzy shapes that marked trees and grass. The confusion was wearing off, and he almost shouted in a delighted croak. And, then, of course, came that attack on him. It was with that monstrous thing's clawed wingtips, obviously, it didn't feel like claws. And, though he couldn't show it in his expression, now he was pissed. The foolish coward; attacking him when he was down! So, he managed to crane his neck around until he could see the fuzzy shape that marked that ancient piece of crap. "Croaa!" he erupted, hoping to actually hit it this time.
But he did know that it could be worthless. One more attack like that fiery one could bring him down. He must defend his marshland! He must win!

This time, Tyrone wasn't so lucky. The attack caught him right in the flank, pounding his scaly hide until a bruise appeared on his flesh. He tossed his head with an irritated snort, the frog's actions only making it angrier as it swooped down, forked tail cutting the earth as he flapped his wings back into the rising updrafts yet again.
He didn't plan on staying so far away for long, and returned from the mist, fangs flashing with flame yet again to hinder the movement of the croagunk and stop it from provoking a battle. He would win, and didn't care how honorable, or in this case, honorableness his victory was. If he could gobble the creature in his mouth when he was paralyzed he might have preferred some squirming but in this case, he had no trouble.
Vic nodded, the only sign of approval as she reached for a pokeball. After the Aerodactyl completed his attack, he threw it at the poisonous frog. She noticed that he didn't back down without a fight and she appreciated that in one of her pokemon. Besides, if she didn't catch him now, then Tyrone would continue to bite at the croagunk and possibly kill him.

These two where driving him crazy and if they thought they where angrier now they have another thing coming for he is even angrier then them. He might be getting weaker with each attack that landed upon him, but he wasn't going to down so easily. "CROA GUNK GUNK CROAGUNK!" He shouted at the trainer's pokemon. It was his own battle cry of sorts as he went into to attack the Aerodactyl again, but found he was too slow. As the stupid pokemon wrapped it's blazing hot and burning fangs around him Croagunk found himself loosing the last of his energy. Oh life so isn't far. At this rate They where going to take over his little piece of marshland for sure. Finding himself being spat out of the Aerodactyl's mouth what happened next shocked him. The human throw a little ball at him and he was sucked inside. As the ball hit the ground it shook and shook and shook a total of five times while the pokemon inside struggled to get out. Finally beaten the Coragunk gave up and the pokeball ping to let all know that the pokemon inside had been caught.

Watching from some brush a wild Stunky snickered to herself before coming out of the brush. She wasn't scare of some flying pokemon that died out years and years ago. She was however curious as to how one was around now. Looking at the pokemon that was clearly larger then her she let out a "Stunky Stunk?" As she told it excuse me? "Stunk stunky unky stunky?" She then added asking if the Aerodactyl was really there or not. Waiting a few minutes she looked away from the other pokemon and at the human before fluttering out her fur and walking to a nearby tree where she sat down to groom out her tail. Where as most pokemon would have attacked she didn't as in all honestly she really didn't care that there was a human here.

The blond haired woman tilted her head down, a shadow descending over her face as a smile lifted the corners of her mouth. She had watched the croagunk flail in the grasp of the pokeball, catching it inside. Sometimes she didn't understand why some pokemon didn't jump at the opportunity at becoming stronger even at the cost of freedom. She caught the pokeball as it returned to her, the small grin remained but even though she didn't feel exactly ecstatic. Any kind of emotion with her was pretty hollow, victory or failure...of course she was never accepting of failure, but oh well.
Tyrone huffed, puffing out its chest as he turned with his snout into the air. His superiority complex rose, certainly feeling elated at the victory. He grinned a toothy grin, following Vic as she reached for his pokeball, but before his wings could fold over his body, another pokemon rustled out of the bushes. He turned, irritated, towards the approaching pokemon; another one he never saw before. Vic tilted her head. "A stunky, huh? Tyrone, are you ready for another battle?" The dragon turned his eyes towards his trainer, stiffling a nod that shook the tip of his maw.
He would battle anything to prove to be the dominant predator. When he heard the stunky speak, he growled.<Aeeero! Dactyl Dacc.> As if to say of course I'm real, are you blind? I have been brought back to life and will once again rule the skies. He wasn't happy that the tiny pokemon took to his appearance so casually.
<Aerodactyl!> He screeched, telling her to prepare for battle. He rose into the sky, unhooking his wings and lunging towards the creature, slashing at her with his powerful wings.

Stunky blinked calmly at the Aerodactly. "Stunky, stun, stunky," she said, informing the Aerodactly that his existence was nothing to get worked up about. Pokemon species came and went, and sometimes returned. Being a monolith of an ancient era was exciting, sure enough, but Stunky never got excited about anything. The Aerodactly might want to be quieter about his claim to rule the skies. Some Pokemon around these parts weren't as amiable as the Stunky.
Stunky tracked the Aerodactyl's moves with clear, intelligent eyes. She was valued around these parts for her exceptional eyesight. She always hit what she aimed for, and never missed a detail of anything that happened around her, even with the thick mist that permeated the valley. Stunky found it quite enjoyable, as a matter of fact, to just sit and observe for most of her day. She knew of all the juicy gossip that happened in the valley, though she never acted on her knowledge. She preferred to just watch things pass her by.
The Fire Fang was an annoyance, but merely that. Stunky calmly patted out the flames on her fur and sighed a wisp of green vapor that quickly dissipated into the air. She took careful aim on the Aerodactyl's swerving sight and breathed out a much larger cloud of cloying gas. The sickly green poisonous fumes floated towards the Aerodactyl, bring with it the promise of slow, lingering pain.

The Aerodactyl was furious. Why couldn't this pathetic underling respect his authority? Anything with wings certainly outclassed a disgusting mammal, especially one that smelled so bad. His jaws clenched, gnashing his teeth after his attack hit, leaving a trace of flames on her fur. His form scooped into the air, kicking off his his claws as he continued his flight, the mist shrinking away from his heavy wingbeats.
When he came back around, he heard Vic's voice as the poison entered the air. "Tyrone, don't breath that stuff in. Clear it away with your wings!" With a roar, the dragon halted in his flight, hovering decisively towards the approaching miasma. One, two, three giant beats from his large wings was enough to clear the smoke and blow it back towards the skunk and beyond, dissipating within the pure mist. When he saw an opening, he dived towards the mammal, wing joints meeting at the middle as he slashed out towards her with his wings.

Stunky was decidedly unimpressed by the Aerodactyl's rage. She grinned a sly, sardonic grin at the sight of his towering fury, tilting her head up to watch the prehistoric Pokemon's flight. She tilted her head further and further back until she eventually overbalanced and rolled onto her back. She didn't care, just gave a little chuckle and watched the Aerodactyl from her upside down vantage point. It was a shame her Poison Gas hadn't worked. What a waste of good old poison things.
The Aerodactyl was flying towards her on the human's command. Oh joy. This might be exciting after all. The hit hurt, of course, but Stunky didn't care. It pushed her back onto her feet, and she nodded at the Aerodactyl in thanks.
Hm. Maybe she should attack back. Did she feel like expending the energy? Well, it would be rude to ignore the Pokemon when he so obviously wanted a battle. And anyways, a girl did need her daily dose of exercise.
Stunky plopped her bottom on the ground and scratched at her ear. She would get this fight started when she was good and ready. As almost an afterthought, the poison type gave a large yawn. A cloud of gas spewed forth, much like the poisonous fumes from before, but an even thicker cloud, and one that hung around like a cloud of smog had descended onto the ground. The Smokescreen would hide her movements as her purple fur blended in almost perfectly.
Stunky disappeared into the smoke, suddenly popping out right under the Aerodactyl's nose. She swatted at his nose with Astonishing speed, never truly appearing to move or put forth effort at all and merely appearing to teleport from one place to another within the smoke.
