This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

GRAND OPENING !
Welcome to KOHAKU REGION's grand opening! If you're interested in joining, come check out our grand opening giveaway!
So this thread is way overdue. Note how I decided not to call this one Week 5 Feedback, so this way I can't possibly be overdue on the sixth thread. Plus, Kohaku's fifth week is almost over already.
In a few days, we'll be taking up new mods (Boone, Dandy, I'm looking at you two). Current mods should continue modding their current threads until they're done with them, unless they don't want to.
There's a rebuilding system in the works, and it'll be ready in a few days for the soon-to-be-free Bellona Hills. More details as I have them.
Stuff for breeders, rangers, and researchers in the setting have been pretty significantly expanded. The idea is for your character to interact more with the setting.
Breeders have Orders, Societies, and Secret Societies to join. For Orders (in Nerio) and Societies (in Hespera), you just post to add yourself to a roster. Secret Societies (in Sol) require an IC mod thread with an NPC to join.
Rangers have new signs to pick up across the region from various NPCs. All of them require an IC mod thread with an NPC to get the sign.
Researchers have various NPCs, most of them professors but not all of them, to help them along their adventure. Again, all of these require IC threads.
Expect an activity check (ie, a glorified census poll) in the near future.
Let me know if there's stuff about the setting or system or whatever else that you think needs improving.
As always, here's some updates/reminders going live tomorrowish.
NERFING OF BULWARK MONEY Docked from $5,000 to $1,000.
SLIGHT REVISION OF THREAD TAGS Most of you are already treating these tags like this anyway, but I'll be codifying it in the rules.
[mod] threads are threads that require a wild pokemon or whatever. [challenge] threads are for NPC battle challenges, like gym leaders--or just a tag for a particularly difficult mod thread, if you're bored. [event] threads are for scourge or some NPC interactions that don't require you to beat up their pokemon. The tags are pretty interchangeable within reason.
RECOIL AND SELF-DEBUFFS Recoil damage is in play. Crash damage is in play. Debuffs that you inflict on yourself from using powerful attacks like V-Create and Close Combat are in play.
EXPANDED MOD REWARDS Just a bit. I'm not giving myself a promotion, but I'm adjusting the mod rewards to expand them to 150 or even 200 posts. This is obviously because we're a whole lot more active than I anticipated.
HOPES AND DREAMS Get Out Of Jail Free Card - $2000 Automatic success on any one roll Undo Button - $1000 Make a mod reroll any roll they made (while modding) Second Chance - $500 Reroll on any one roll you made, take either result. Fortune's Favor - $100 Adjust any roll of yours by +/-10.
i assume the fortune's favor can only be used once per roll, bc i could just buy 10 of them for 1k and fudge my roll for auto-success.
also i would have the legendary ranger sign or lv10 pkmn to 50 posts, and bulwark down to 40. might also want to consider giving out 5 tms instead of 10 for bulwark. if you consider one tm to be worth 2k, yeah. bulwark money could still be at 2k, though. just enough to buy a tm of your choice, or to shove a pkmn in for 19lvs.

Just some systematics questions - they could be dumb but idk their answers:
1. If breeders do not breed their pokemon successfully, do the involved pokemon still gain 3 levels?
2. Researchers with enough entries can teach a TM, erase a type weakness, or add levels. Are they able to do all of these things in one visit or can they only do one at a time?
1. Because breeders have an obscene number of pokemon, aren't meant to be in battles 24/7, and rarely get to use the training center, I'm inclined to say yes. So yes, for now. If it gets stupid on the long run, well then we'll take a look at that again.
2. One at a time, to only one pokemon at a time. If they have a trainer's pass, they can bring two pokemon, but only one pokemon gets to benefit from a single regimin. Their regimins are potentially unbalancing, so only being able to apply them slowly is meant to help balance that.
I think it'd be a good idea to clean up the accounts on the site, we have 58 accounts and a few of them were only active for a couple of days! It doesn't look good when theres a high member count and only a 1/4 or so are active daily, it looks REALLY good when the accounts you have are active.
Maybe delete accounts who haven't been active in a month without a hiatus post?

@hatti -- i disagree with it looking better to delete accounts. we don't know when anyone might return - whether they've made posts or not, haitus post or not - and its welcoming to be able to log into an account that was never purged. we chose to stick to the rule of never purging because its more courteous and fits the relaxed spirit of the site. Try not to be too worried about how member counts look anyway because there are plenty of sites - ftb, nrpg to give examples - that don't delete accounts and are pretty successful! c:
re: tms, i've been working under the gen v-onward mechanics, since that's where attack and move-learning rules are from as well i .. think. ....... but if it's not like that (aka tms are multiple-use, which is what i think i was told a while ago but lbr this is ari she remembers diddly squat) then welp
also looked through infodex and i can't find a rule for tm-useage so i have no idea anymore sighs.
