"Pretty sure losing things is just proof that we're losing," Neo says, and it's almost humorous in that dry, horrible sort of way. Almost. Instead, it's just bleak. "We choose how we live," Neo said. "Some of us are lucky enough to choose how we die too. There are worse ways to go down than fighting. In fact, I'd say fighting is one of the best ways to go."Because she knows it's a problem, a weight on Karimi's shoulders, Neo adds, "You didn't let them down. You did everything you could, everyone did."toska

"we're going to fight. we're going to fight, and we're going to live too. before, during, and after." she speaks as if there will always be an after, and she believes. "...yeah, we did." she swallows, remembering that a happy ending is not always earned. "of course we did." she does not even notice that there is no 'i' in her statements.
karimi's eyes wander to a glass window. its blinds are rolled up, and the sky is a nice shade of blue. kind of like her hair, the people of decima used to tell her. a girl that she knew in middle school used to look at her and tell her that it's almost as if her head is going to melt into the sky. she meant it as an insult, but karimi rather liked it. melting into the sky, and all the freedom that came with it.
"you should come to the salacia beach with me sometime. when it's not like ten degrees outside, i mean." she makes a face. "cos we're not masochists like those people working on their winter tan." maybe she'd do it on a dare, but karimi doesn't say that part. hook ¿

Perhaps faith in a happy ending gave Karimi strength. For Neo, it was a delusion that provided no comfort. She didn't need sweet words, she needed results. Hope didn't save lives. "Someday," she promised. It felt empty, but Neo meant it--if it was possible. "When it's summer."toska(i keep forgetting about this thread with all the shit going on)
