karimi doesn't feel as if she can sit still, doens't feel as if she can sit in kohaku university for any longer, but she doesn't know where anyone is, and thalia said that she was on the way.
well, speak of the devil.
"a few of the tech girls traced neo's c-gear to proserpina. so we know where her party is. that's about it." so maybe it wasn't some entirely legal stuff, but she's not going to think about that in the event of a kidnapping. "i...i don't actually know what's going on at all. neo's kidnapper...he said that neo was willing to clone him a near-dead lucario. he asked me for a vaccine. i knew i shouldn't have trusted him, but i...it sounded like a time-sensitive issue and i..."
except her excuses don't matter anymore, do they? whatever she had believed, whatever she might have done, neo was in the hands of some creep who really knew how to make a steak.
"don't say that! don't say that it won't matter because it will! she'll come back, and that's the end of it" karimi doesn't even know if she's functioning on optimism or denial anymore. did it really matter?
"he was a really tall man who called himself 'brand'. he...he had a large scar on the right side of his face, blond hair and green eyes." she looks thalia in the eye. "how fucked are we right now?" 2tsunz
"I meant it doesn't matter because if I end up getting enough people, we'll have all the firepower we can bring. Athena might still want to come along though."
She wished she had one of J's cigarettes.
"I was taken prisoner by two agents in Decima. One was a man with a lucario. One was a woman. If it's the same man, I'd rather him have taken Neo than the woman. But there's no guarantee that it's him."
"i'm...i'm pretty sure that it'll be him. he seemed to have something...kinda personal for neo?" the fondness that brand had for her...it almost seemed real. arceus, when will neo associate with less people who might want to kill her? "i'm coming with you guys." there was no room in her tone for negotiation. 2tsunz
Thalia remembered a man she couldn't see holding her against his chest and stroking her hair. She felt very cold.
"If you get killed, that does nothing for Neo. I would have trusted Neo at my back in a fight. I don't know you. I'm not going to tell you that you can't come. But I want you to agree to let J and I try to handle things first, if we end up fighting."
Thalia didn't bother mentioning that if there was something in the Land that she and J together couldn't handle, Karimi's best bet would be running to save herself instead of trying to help them out. She could get to that if it ever came to that.
it's a very good thing that thalia didn't know that karimi was the "die fighting" kind of girl.
usually, a comment like that from a girl who was even younger than that might have earned a sarcastic quip, but there wasn't really much time to be arguing. "don't get killed. got it. do we have any clue as to where neo would be?" 2tsunz
karimi doesn't have very many questions, not if it meant saving her best friend. she grabs the travel bag that she had so obsessively put together while she had waited for thalia, along with her pokeballs. "what are you waiting for, then? let's go!"
Thalia swept into Karimi's office with considerably less fanfare than Batin had, but an equal amount of purpose.
