This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

She wasn't sure she was unwelcome here, so much as the land played a questionable host. It gave her what she wanted, but it also gave her the hallucinations, the voices, and the motherfucking eels.
Neo couldn't remember any of friends. She could barely remember her pokemon (but she's certain they can take care of themselves without her anyhow). It's what she does remember that counts though. She remembered that she doesn't trust this place. Maybe she can't trust Batin, maybe she can. He was hard to read, but she knew she couldn't trust the land. It was a liar.
There was no one at the counter, so Neo left a few bills and a note to the chansey that usually ran the place. She didn't touch the groceries though.
"Let's go back," she said. She didn't mean that they should return to her house. She looked at her hands, and they were steady enough--but numb. She felt light-headed, or was this heavy-headed? "Something feels wrong. I don't feel well. I don't feel anything."
"Thanks," she said. She didn't try to get up. She wasn't too familiar with being overcome by the hades virus, but it felt like that'd be a very bad idea. "That was... surprisingly easy."
Batin's room reappeared, or rather they reappeared in the lab adjacent to his room. The eelektross corpses were still there. Neo wished they were scourge so she could get a dex entry from them.
She realized she'd been wearing just Batin's shirt the whole time. She winced, probably in humiliation. "Where do the girl agents live? I need their clothes. And food. Sleep too. Maybe aspirin. We should've picked up aspirin from Softboiled before we left."
"And you're going to what? Live here? Find a partner pokemon? Go out into the world, kill EOS trainers and press the scourge forward?"
He stuffed his hands in his pockets. Minerva watched them quietly from the corner. < Batin and I can retrieve supplies for you from the waking world, > she chimed in. Batin glared at her.

"What? No. Why would I?" Neo said. She would've showed more confusion or scoffed at the suggestion, but she was tired. She didn't know why. "I just want something more to wear. I can't go back like this."
Minerva caught Neo this time and placed her on the bed. Batin was getting rather tired of catching falling women.
"Stay here," he told the lucario, scrubbing a hand through his hair. "I'm going to the library."
< Should I restrain her if she wakes before you return? > Minerva asked, and Batin shook his head.
"If it won't let me leave, it won't let her leave. I don't think it wants to hurt her though. I think it just wants more of us. It wants to be--" his mouth twisted in distaste, "--filled again. To be alive, in whatever fashion it can."
