This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.

The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

yves enjoys pal park. that's precisely why she doesn't want to lose it to eos. as soon as she heard that it was suffering, she got here as fast as she could.
hope is off somewhere, rallying some scourge. so yves is alone, waiting for a ditzy eos trainer to walk right into the trap.
karimi isn't ditzy okay!!! especially not after the timeskip, but let's not break any more fourth walls here (that's vert's job).
she does not remember pal park as fondly as many of the other eos trainers, as decima is a long way away from this place. karimi can only imagine what it must have been like, once upon a time. others are more fortunate than she. or would they be less fortunate, now that pal park has become overrun with the scourge?
it's not long before she comes across a lone girl in pal park. karimi definately finds it a little strange when the entire park is overrun by scourge, but hesitation never saved anyone.
"what are you doing out here?" between the risk of walking into an ambush and the risk of leaving an innocent behind, she will take the risk. "are you lost?" she doesn't even miss a beat, especially when she doesn't see any vaccinated pokemon around. "look, this place isn't safe. maybe you should come with me."
then she realizes how weird that must sound.
"uh. i'm karimi. an eos researcher, but don't let that put you off!" beefed up trainers weren't the only ones who could handle themselves in a fight. "although if you've got vaccinated pokemon on you, that would really help matters"
toska wrote a novel and caedmon really doesn't want to write one, so caedmon decides to be like tsun and make things as short as possible and aggravate toska.
"i-i'm not lost," yves says, sizing up her enemy. "do you know anything how those people that control the scourge?" she trembles. "they just killed all of my pokemon and, i-..." she looks at the ground. "i'm ruth."
karimi gives a sad, but reassuring smile. she seems to be doing that a lot lately. "i wish i knew."
she releases eelektross and braviary for protection and takes ruth by the hand. "c'mon. we've got a lot of ground to cover until the closest ranger post."
ruth walks along with her, her hands cold and shaking. as they continued, the girl released two pokemon. she eyed them and then her head dropped in shame. "b-be careful with them." she sniffles.
along their path they are joined by two hunters. they stalk karimi and her pokemon from the shadowy cover that the leaves give them. eventually they make their way out into the open, stopping karimi and ruth in their tracks.
ruth screams bloody murder and squeezes karimi's hand. "i-it belongs to someone!" she yells pointing to the sableye. "look at it's color!"
