He is here, finally, after wandering the streets for an hour while looking for a map. Ill-thinking on his part, perhaps, to not ask for directions in the first place, but he is here now, and it does not matter. Raphael will start his duties as an Eos researcher today, so here he is, in front of the laboratories in search of a partner pokemon.

He takes a deep breath before striding in, confidence in his stance as he makes his steps audible. "Hello?" he calls out, voice steady. "Professor Cypress? It's Raphael, the one who called yesterday to ask about a pokemon."

"Hello!" Professor Cypress said, with a donut in his mouth, which promptly landed on the floor. Good job, Professor Cypress. Your breakfast has escaped the battle. "Oh, fiddlesticks," he muttered, picked up the donut and tossed it into the trash.

To Raphael, Cypress smiled brightly, even without a sugary treat. "Yes, excellent, I remember! Thank you so much for your interest in the Eos Program. We're so happy to have you. If you'd just come this way... we have a selection of newly vaccinated pokemon just looking for the perfect partner."

The professor is everything the rumors say he is, but what they do not say is that he is generous. Raphael gives all of the pokemon a cursory glance, knowing their individual values and possible traits before he settles on one. The man approaches the absol carefully, making sure to remain polite. He gives her a smile, in return for a skeptical glance. "Would you like to accompany me?" he asks, because absol are known for predicting disasters before they happen.

(He tells himself it's not because his mother had one, and that this absol reminds him of home.)

The pokemon deliberates before nodding, trotting to his side. Raphael smiles and gives her a welcoming look.

Cypress' stomach growled, but he told it (aloud) to shush, and he will get it coffee soon. (Who needs food when you can have coffee?)

"Good," Professor Cypress said. His approval didn't matter much in practice, but it was always good to see a pokemon get along with the Eos participant that chose them.
