This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Needless to say, his training regiments had gotten fare more elaborate and difficult. He’d spent so much time fighting (mostly to stay alive) the last half year that his pokemon had grown in leaps and bounds, to the point he wasn’t entirely sure what to do with them anymore. After so much fighting, how could any non-battle training really help?
He shook his head to clear those grim thoughts. No way! Every little bit helped! Bunching up his nose, he dreamt up something grand for Zooka the Seadra. A large pool, full of exercises and moving parts. It started with a moving agility course beneath the surface - hoops of various sizes that moved horizontally or vertically, that Zooka had to navigate as fast as he could (complete with a timer to test each run). After that came the target practice - though the targets were fast moving, and homed in on Zooka. Pnk! Pnk! Pnk! The sound of water on metal echoed in the imagined place.
After multiple rounds of this, Zooka spent some time on solid earth, working on building up his muscles in what was certainly not his native habitat. Finally exhausted, he flopped into Nima’s awaiting lap. “You did really well Zooka! Let’s have a snack okay?” Dreaming or not, neither of them would pass up a good sweet snack!

Raza’s dream world locals were always remarkably barren. It didn’t much bother him, though his partner, a totodile, glanced around in surprise. This was their first training attempt together, and Raza as blank faced as ever, summoned up a sturdy stick. His training skills were rusty at best, but he would do what he could. “Dodge it.” He swung the stick at his water type, who though surprised, deftly side stepped. They continued their sparring silently, and Raza was glad that he left his physical pains behind while here. Apart from a few knocks, his partner managed to dodge every blow, and the Ranger abruptly stopped and tossed a poke puff to totodile. Startled, the water type actually got bopped on the nose by the treat. He blinked down at it, then up at Raza, before snatching it up in his substantial mouth. “Good job.” Raza’s voice was flat, but he did mean it. He summoned some hard rubber balls and for the next while they practiced dodging at a longer distance, and in the end totodile ended up with another yummy treat for his efforts.

Krishna had never actually attempted to train a pokemon in any legitimate fashion. Sure, he’d had his gaggle of kids and pokemon back in Grimer’s Court, but that ‘training’ usually consisted of various street skirmishes and the odd brawl for money. As he stood in the middle of what would morph itself into anything he wished, Runt sat on his head and chirped now and again. The little fire bird needed toughening up, and a lot of it.
Krishna smirked, and summoned up a long cylindrical metal whistle. He blew it once, the shrill noise startling little Runt into a frantic flight from his head. Mute as he was, Krishna was going to have to do this in a rather round-about way. He pointed into the sky, and summoned up a rather absurd visual into being. A swarm of poke puffs. They quivered like a swarm of tasty bees. The breeder blew the whistle again, and the ball of flying foodstuffs took off in all directions.
Runt was confused, but there was food! He took off after the swarm, chasing them this way and that in a frantic bid to catch one. Food was a great motivator.
For his part, Krishna was double over in silent laughter. What a fuckin’ ridiculous thing to watch!

This was quite exciting! She really did enjoy the Dream World as it was, but getting to play about in the training center was a new treat! She’d always been content to watch the trainers and challengers on board her previous employment (a floating gym, in actuality), never really investing time into such endeavors herself. She loved pokemon, but had never thought to actively pursue becoming a trainer. Until recently, that is.
Glancing about the space, a little snorunt perched atop her head like a very odd hat, she put her hands on her hips. Well, nothing to do but to get to it! She proved to have a rather strong imagination and ability to visualize, for soon enough the entire area was practically a wintertime paradise - minus the actual biting cold for her. She let the little snorunt loose to toddle about and create flurries of powdered snow. Maeve then directed him to run laps, which was terribly adorable given his tiny feet. They wrapped it up by practicing bite on poor unsuspecting poke puffs (which Maeve may have participated in herself).

Today he dreamt up the ocean. It would be fun for Zooka, even if it wasn’t exactly ‘real’. It wasn’t half bad for Nima, either! Warm breezes, nice sunshine, and sand to dig his toes in (that wasn’t scorching hot!). Sitting on the beach, hugging his knees, he watched his water type frolic happily in the waves for awhile, before starting the actual training.
He summoned up huge waves, and then whirlpools, testing the limits of Zooka’s swimming strength and his stamina. These days, Nima didn’t partake in the training himself as a morale boost. His pokemon had already seen him out in the field, struggling through the same things as them. These days, training was purely for their benefit, and they were happy to do it, if only to make the next scourge encounter a bit easier. And t increase the chances that they’d again be able to keep Nima safe.

Aiming for level 100 was probably not really necessary but…well…why not? It couldn’t hurt! Every little bit helps when it came to the Scourge. Today it was diving practice. He’d summoned up the ocean again (Zooka really liked it last time!) and set Zooka to diving as deeply as he could and then coming back up to the surface. At a lack for something better to do, they added a jump once he got to the surface, to see how far he could rocket himself into the air. If nothing else, it made for some rather interesting laps. Again Nima was parked on the beach (this time he conjured up an umbrella and picnic lunch!), watching his starter train. These little breaks were nice…it meant he was getting a good night’s sleep. Lately, sleeping had become…very difficult.

Another training session. It had taken him awhile to get back here - who knew dreaming could be so difficult. It was either blank unconscious, or nightmares. He was grateful to have managed to navigate to the land of dreams successfully this time. Being able to earn his pokemon strength while asleep was an incredibly useful ability, and he wanted to take advantage of it.
This time he’d managed to think up a proper training course (still very bare bones, however), and set Totodile to work. The little pokemon had proven to be very observant, and thus very quiet - his partner wasn’t one for conversation. He understood that his human was hellbent on obliterating the Scourge, and having been an EOS starter, Totodile was understanding of the desire. He’d do his best to become stronger, in order to survive this war. He wasn’t sure that his own strength would impact whether or not Raza survived… He had no doubt that trying to get in Raza’s way, for any reason, would not end well. Even if it was to try and save him from what appeared to be a suicide mission.
