scarlette was glad she had speakers built into her helmet. the delicate music was soothing, even to corona's ears. the eevee perched on her helmet, ears flicking. scar leaned back against the bench, eyes cast skyward to see the clouds. it wasn't particularly clear, overcast really.

Orwell had long since realized how he was most likely to meet people, especially people in the Eos program: his pokemon ran into them--literally.

It was simple, really. He was starting to suspect his pokemon were purposeful when they ran rampant. Then again, they were all essentially infants. Orwell sat on the park bench across from Scarlette, his chansey worrying over five little pokemon running amok.

His carbink bounced up to Scarlette's bench until it was precariously balanced atop its backrest. It approached the strange ovular object and rapped its head against the helmet. <Caaaarrb?> it asked curiously, not sure what this foreign object was. It swore it could hear faint sounds coming from within.

first thing's first, scarlette scanned the carbink. she turned down the music with a dial on the side of her helmet. corona swatted at the pokemon, paw reaching out to tap on the carbink's head. <vee!> he exclaimed, tail wagging.

"i'm guessing this is your carbink. you don't see these very often around here."

Ah, another researcher. He was starting to suspect that arceus himself planted researchers in his path. Go figure. At least Orwell didn't really mind.

The carbink got swatted, clunking down to the ground. It was a rock though, and it wasn't harmed. Nonplussed, it floated back upright and dangled itself before Corona, making itself an easy target--or was it a game? <Carbink!> it giggled.

"Is it troubling you? Young pokemon tend to run amok, I apologize if it's been unruly."

The chansey ran up to the carbink, ready to chastise, but she stopped short when it seemed like neither pokemon were harmed. The chansey shrugged, a little helplessly.

pokedex at the ready, scarlette whipped in another entry. "no. it's fine. corona has few friends." the eevee leaped from the helmet onto the floating carbink, squeaking in happiness. "i'm scarlette. call me scar. yourself?"

king really regrets making a researcher because the pokedex shit is so much effort.

"Orwell."

And thus the cavalry arrived, or at least the nursery. Igglybuff, pichu, and togepi paraded in, with an audino at their heels. (Really, Orwell has the most effeminate pokemon, I swear.)

It's only really a hassle at the start. After a while, it just comes naturally out of threading around.

scar was going to have an aneurysm. so many pokemon at once. she aimed the dex at the igglybuff and scanned it.

"how are you."

i just mean all the crossing out stuff on the list

"I am well. The defense of Ceres took its toll, but I seem to be recovering. Have you only just joined Eos?"

I actually just kept Neo's journal updated (it's free money), and then crossed out stuff in bulk later.

she scanned the pichu.

... i'll just start doing that.

"Researcher is an arduous path, it seems." Not that breeding was any easier.

she scanned the togepi.

she scanned the audino.

"thanks for the entries."

And Orwell went back to his bench, to continue doing whatever he was doing.

scar sat back down on her bench. she dialed the sound up in her helmet and went back to taking a nap.
