This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

mineral pokemon weren't the most popular. that was a fact that milly had accepted from the start. rarely were they flashy or fast, but milly had found them to be steady. reliable. they made for solid tanks, with the occasional sweeper.
milly wonders which kind she will find tonight as she braves the cooler parts of the volcano. the rhyhorn at her side seem to have a much easier time with the footholds than she does. she never claimed to be a hiker. the klefki only jingles as he floats beside the breeder.
the scene must seem a lot less dirty when one was actually gazing upon it.
milly actually winces a little when she imagines what the vanillish must be going through. having parts of its body falling off must be... excruciatingly painful.
she doesn't think about it for too long. milly takes out her pokeball. the ones with the vanilluxe.
celsica looks at her inquisitively. none of her other pokemon are anywhere near the appropriate power level, and the both of them know it. it's a contract between milliarde and mercedes.
milly puts her foot down. "i'm not asking you to attack it. i'm asking you to help. this isn't a battle." as the sole heir to the family, she knows a thing or two about how these agreements worked.
celsica suddenly smiles and proceeds to cool the vanillish with a small icy wind.
would the vanilluxe simply stand by if milly were to be attacked? probably, and it didn't sit very well with milly. she doesn't say anything about it, though. she had agreed to a set of terms. all that's left is to honor them.
the loneliness on her face must have shown, though. calbren jingles his keys a little, as if to remind milly that she isn't alone.
the sudowoodo remained erect even as the icy wind assaulted it. it shivered slightly -- but remained tough and standing. perhaps even slightly springy, as it bounced back when the wind stopped.
the sudowoodo shivered slightly from the cold. brrr. it didn't really like the cold. it stepped behind milly, face hidden behind its fruit-tits at the scene that unfolded soon after.
the vanillish turned towards the vanilluxe and lowered its head. 'i appreciate it,' it said, 'i need all the help i can get ... please ...'
celsica gets to blow a wild vanillite with her frosty breath. maybe milly was right. maybe she should be helping with the small problems of others after all.
friendly reminder that vanilluxe has a straw on its head and everything. both heads work really hard to blow a lot of cold air onto the vanillish's head. through the straw.
vanilluxe also uses mist for the atmosphere before blowing another icy wind from its spout.

"oh." she says finally. "i guess. i'll... leave you two be"
<20 celsica even gaf about it
milly still thinks that turning away is the right thing to do.
the sudowoodo eyed the pofflé and accepted it. it was rather hesitant in its gestures. it also sneezed from the cold. it was rather endearing for a sudowoodo, to say the least.
maybe the stuff on the ground isn't really just melted ice-cream.
don't we all want to hear a sudowoodo cry out in ecstasy.
the sudowoodo sighed and tugged the shawl tighter around itself. the cold was really unbearable. it would rather suffer the heat in the caverns than inexplicable cold. if it wanted some cold air, it could have gone out to the open where frost was still in the season.
well that would certainly be a memorable experience.
"...sorry. it was the only solution that i could really think of in a hurry." nobody would know how to solve a vanillish's problems better than a pokemon from its own evolutionary line, after all.
she wonders what happens next. she'd never actually caught her own pokemon before.
"so...have you two been friends long?"
celsica's recruitment strategy is decidedly more aggressive. she looks down at the vanillish.
<hey, you want to try that again sometime? sure you do, c'mon.>
the sudowoodo grumbled something. it seemed to want to keep the shawl. just in case its vanillish friend decided to spring some icy wind or other on it for fun.
the vanillish fidgeted. while it would be good to follow the breeder, it also had its friend to consider. it glanced at the rocky tree who was toying with the shawl.
it seemed to find it difficult to make a choice. it let out a small cry, sighing.
'oh, i don't know! it's really hard to decide ... why do you make me choose ...'
