This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

some say that the endgame for an eos ranger is pax lake. that's where the bulk of the scourge are congregated, and decima is beyond saving. that's where iker will think that they are wrong. not about the saving decima part - he doesn't know enough about decima to make a call. about the endgame, yes.
iker doesn't think in terms of endgames. the world is larger than that. he taught iker that much. he's the reason that he was able to see past the gates of bacchus in time to make the decision to leave last year.
he wonders where that friend of his is now. not for too long, though. pax lake was never a good place to be deep in contemplation.
the manectric keeps vigilant, and the shellgon stays close by the ranger's side. so does the granbull assist, who remains as loyal as any of his partners. he had felt that he owed iker that much for saving him from a fate of scourgification.
citrus i got mostly caught up on posts so i thought i'd start lol
On normal days, daily life has enough surprises and out of the ordinaries to satisfy Azazel. Still, there are always those off days, where nothing new happens - no attacks, no ambushes, no need to defend the 'territory', as they call it. These days are the days where the Spiritomb's hunger grows unquenchable, and it struggles to stay by his side in favor of causing mischief elsewhere.
Today is one of those days. Ethan leaves the ghost type to its own matters and wanders around the water's edge, peering down at his reflection in sudden fits of impulse. The lake is what spurred him on back when the scourge first attacked, gave him a reason worth living for. That same reason still burns strong - he learns to confront the face of Aiden, instead of shying away because it's too painful to bear.
Perhaps there is other life beneath the waters, perhaps not. He stops, staring at the water with an intense, twisted sort of fascination.
iker sees a lone boy near the lake, beyond the curtains of fog. his first instinct is to ready his capture styler, and that's exactly what he does. it's kind of handy to have his heart sign set to muddy water when it means that it's a little harder to be ambushed by multiple scourge at once. or in this case, hades agents.
then he realizes that there's something a little off about that guy and the way that he's staring at the water like it's the fountain of youth or something. iker isn't stealthy - he can't really be when he doesn't even travel on his own feet. or foot. whatever, that doesn't matter. he draws closer, and--
"...aiden?" he blinks. "didn't think you'd make it this far before i did. heh. you're not half-bad."
iker lowers the styler. "seriously, though. you might want to get your face away from the water before a scourge basculin tries to jump out and chomp your nose off or something."
He turns his head around to see a boy with blonde hair. Aiden laughs - chuckles, can't be too loud around these parts - at the joke, raising himself up to full height to face this newcomer, someone he doesn't recognize.
"Let me guess - you study them? I don't know what sorts of scourge hang around these parts, to be honest." His gaze flickers to the capture styler, but only for a second. Azazel is gone, for the time being. Now is as good a time as any to get answers without being outright attacked. "I just got here." He backtracks along the questions, the inquires and the compliments, which he responds to with a bright, lingering sort of grin. "Maybe a day ago? Something like that." What he doesn't mention is that the method and company, those are irrelevant.
"Hey, sorry for asking but, have we met somewhere before?" Sheepish, he twirls a bang on his finger. The guy knows his name, but he can't even place a memory to that face. "I think I would definitely remember someone like you, especially with those kinds of injuries. But you know my name, so we must have. I'm really sorry for forgetting."
iker gives him a kind of funny look. "aren't you the eos researcher?"
that's what aiden had said during their first meeting in the proserpina gym, at least. well. aiden had been something of a derp back then.
"...i told you that i was born like this." iker starts to become slightly irritated, if only because the researcher shouldn't have been working off assumptions when the ranger already explained everything. "look, are you sure you're okay, aiden? haven't hit your head or had a nasty run-in with an alakazam?" admittedly, iker wasn't 100% prepared to take 'yes' for an answer.
jax sniffs at the air, and it doesn't look like he's completely sure if this is the same boy that he had tackled in a library all those months ago. citrus
He pouts. "I just got here yesterday, haven't had the time to, yet. And it wouldn't hurt to at least know about scourge, researcher or not." Which he's not, but this stranger is eos and possibly delusional, who knows what he'll do if he doesn't hear the answers he wants to hear? "It should help out when we're actually fighting them, right?" Aiden grins, plays along to humor this guy until Azazel makes its grand return(which it will, eventually, that much is certain).
"I'm fine! Really! ...At least I thought I was." He tilts his head sideways and frowns, scrunching up his eyebrows in thought. "You told me, but I can't remember you telling me. You think it might be memory loss, or something? What else happened? Was...was he there, too?" He bends down until he's face to face with the manectric, gazing into its eyes with his own sparkling in curiosity.
Don't touch. Ethan snarls as he reaches out a finger towards its fur. Aiden lets it hover there for a moment, then drops his palm onto his knee and tries to probe for answers to a question that he's not sure even exists.
