This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

the fog of the valley parted, and heavy boots stepped on cold metal. outside the station, the stars and galaxies swirled, much like the mist rising from muddy earth. J was accompanied by wing, his skarmory. the bird seemed unperturbed by the change in environment, but it took the human a while to adjust.
shifting through areas in the dream world, though effortless, required a certain amount of getting used to. the quality of it all was what took the most effort to acquaint himself to.
the beldum blinks as it notices the small disturbance in the magnetic field. with its psychic powers, it is sure that the new arrivals are definitely alive. the dream world didn't necessarily break all the laws of physics - only the ones that would be an inconvenience to it. the beldum sends out a few pulses to test for others of its kind, but receives no response.
it cautiously hovers out to greet its guests, ready to flee at the slightest provocation.

J paused in his steps, and wing bumped into the trainer due to the sudden stop. the skarmory glanced at its trainer, then at the floating limb; the bird wondered what it was, but said nothing. J, too, said nothing. with only wing by his side, he wasn't too sure what would come spiraling out of the beldum much like the previous murkrow.
the beldum sends out more pulses at the new arrivals. it becomes as confused as they are, so it closes in to investigate. the skarmory, it is a little more familiar with. the being beside him is a different matter. the beldum is a curious little fellow, and it has no sense of personal space whatsoever.
slowly, it tries to press its head against the human's, trying its best to communicate with its inexperienced, clumsy psychic waves.
who are you? where do you come from?

J flinched from the cold metal against forehead, and wing watched on, amused. the steel bird moved to stand behind the beldum, its beak tilted in an angle that made J swear it was smirking at him. (the damned bird.)
maybe it has something to do with how peaceful the dream world is, but the beldum is less inclined to fight than a trainer might expect out of a wild pokemon. instead, it only looks on as if they're curiosities. that only lasts for a few seconds before the beldum gets a little excited. thing in his world make sense, and everything is as it should be. if this strange being is here, then he, too, must belong.
that is a very...different name, it muses. what is eos? a pokemon? a place? another one of...you?
it isn't sure what to call the strange, fleshy bipedal creature just yet. beldum backs away by a few inches and rotates its body in anticipation.
(btw zulf says that it's acceptable for you to talk it into joining the team, if yr so inclined)

i'm different, as you can see. J glanced at the beldum, then at the skarmory. now, they were more alike than the beldum and he could ever hope to be. the both were steel-types, and had a same metallic quality to them, and perhaps, a certain degree of intelligence. wing was a rogue at times, but it bore a level of intellect dust's rock-typing had diluted.
eos? eos saved me. brought me back. maybe it doesn't exist here, but it's a reality for me.
(yeah probably going to talk to it. can't really ... y'know, fight it with wing.)
i don't mind different. different is...interesting the beldum takes to inspecting his hands, noting how pudgy they were compared to the skarmory's streamlined body. organic, much like a few of the electric types that wandered into its home every now and then. perhaps he is closer to one of them, but the idea isn't off-putting to it at all.
beldum wonders if the hand is warm as well, but the guest did not seem to appreciate it very much when it made contact. it still hovers rather close, but it does not close the distance completely.
how does a reality exist as anything but your surroundings? the concept is completely lost on the beldum, but he wants to know more. how do you know that you haven't lost it? how do you know that you have it at all?

because i am still in control of myself, and i believe what i want to believe. J found it amusing how the creature is interested in his movement and structure of his body. the beldum didn't reject him, nor did it gravitate to wing as if driven by some unknown force, the same force that drives pokémon of the same species together in a flock.
i don't have everything, but i have something, y'know.
not saying that you aren't in control the beldum seems much less tense now, and has taken to hovering around them. communication has become much easier for it, and there are no longer blips in their conversation. everything is free, as long as you don't stop looking. in this reality, at least. as any other pokemon, it might have been a bit skeptical. as a psychic pokemon, the beldum is more than familiar with multiple planes of awareness.
why are you here, then? beldum takes to inspecting the skarmory, now that its main curiosities about his partner was settled. is there something else that you are looking for? maybe i could help you find it. beldum doesn't particularly mind.

he's looking for you, wing replied dryly, unappreciative of the fact that J had instead struck up conversation instead of getting straight to the point.
looking for me? the beldum still doesn't catch any hint of danger in the skarmory's statement, not after he has warmed to his guests. what do you mean?
J's glance was enough to sober wing, and the skarmory had to now find a way to remove J's suspicion about itself. wing truly didn't get the fuss about the beldum, though -- it was just another pokémon, albeit one that looked like it was part of a larger structure.
like, a metal leg no one wanted.
J attempted to reason with the beldum. maybe ... are you interested in seeing my version of reality?
the beldum observes their interactions with a little more than mild interest. at no point does it feel envy for what they have or who they were. the beldum is simply content to be, but curiosity is a rebellious creature.
"i am always interested in new realities" it relays telepathically. "how would this be done?"
