This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

"so you don't try to avoid them?" elias asks, a little surprised at J's casual attitude. elias would do anything to avoid the scourge. he just wanted to get out of lake pax as soon as possible. and then as far away from the scourge as possible. "you don't mind running into a few?"

"i dunno. i feel like i'm running away from something every day." he says, scratching his head. it was true- elias was paranoid. just a little rustle in the bushes would send him running. especially here, in the most scourge infested area of kohaku. "that's not really what i want to be doing."

J was neither a counsellor nor was he a mentor to anyone. he had no idea what to tell elias; 'everyone is running away from something' didn't sound quite right.
elias feels like he's on a couch, in some office, in some office building, in some city. maybe he should pour out all of his feelings to J. no thanks. "......." the boy doesn't say a word yet, only stares at J with a slight confusion. "it's not really an issue?" it wasn't, yet. but it probably would become one soon if he didn't man up and fight some hades infected pokemon. "it's just something that i don't really want to be doing."

J said nothing, and tossed some dried branches into the flames. as long as elias remembered that he was bound to eos by duty, he had nothing else to comment.
"i think i'm gonna go sleep." he blurts out, giving J a quick look. "i'll be up later, so you can get a few hours too." and then he crawls off into his semi-set up tent.
