The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

It's a brand new month and some changes have been made. Most of them aren't huge, unless
KOHAKU UNIVERSITY Now exists in Sol City. I mean, it's always existed, but now it has its own board. The old Pokemon Heights board now does not exist, and the staff team thread has been moved to Neverita Bay.
RESEARCHER CHANGES This basically effects no one currently, except me and Toska. There were lot of researcher NPCs in the setting (from a previous attempt to making all classes setting integrated like trainer gyms). It was pretty stupid. You would never want to skip joining a breeder society, getting a unique ranger sign, or earning a gym badge. But researcher stuff? For researchers, all the stuff was just an additional side bonus at best (useless at worst).
The new researcher stuff works like the breeder societies. It's all integrated with Kohaku University, as far as IC info goes. There are PROGRAMS in Proserpina, DEPARTMENTS in Nerio, and DEGREES in Sol City. The previous researcher NPCs have been touched up to available to every class.
AD CONTEST Seems like that time of a site's life. There are a few static rewards for posting a certain number of ads. Otherwise, the big pay-outs go out to the people that post the most ads.
NEW MINI-MODS Hunter and King are the staff team as mini-mods for February. We'll probably need maybe two more mini-mods on top of that, so if you'd like to apply (or like to continue from January), let me know! As always, if you were modding a thread, you should continue modding that thread. If you're too busy, make sure to let a different staffer know so that we can take over!
1HKO MOVES Can each be used once per battle. Scourge treat 1HKO moves as 100 POW moves.
TOXIC + CURSE Scourge are immune.
VENOM BADGE No one ever did the math for the venom badge. Vertigo didn't even know how to use it, which is kinda crazy, considering that he knows the rules better than me. Its use is now much more straightforward: 1HKO moves are treated as 100 POW moves, Toxic and Curse are treated as the regular Poisoned status.
BOSCH Now exists. He's at Tower of Janus handing out key stones for mega evolutions for people that do a [event] thread for him.
THE PRISM The Prism is dead. It exploded. It also summoned Yveltal.
THE RUBY THRONE The Prism has been replaced by The Ruby Throne, another artifact in the same location.
THE SHARDS The Prism exploded into shards, which have cropped up around the region. Look forward to them showing up later tonight/this week as I gather the time to post up new info threads.
THE ANVIL The mighty adventures of Thalia and J have unlocked the Forge of Souls Anvil! Visit the Anvil once a week to have a mythical weapon generated for you. Like Harry Potter wands, the weapon chooses the wielder, so if you don't like it, it doesn't like you either. You can come back next week to see if you get something more suitable.
KOHAKU REPORTER Is a thing, just saying. If possible, I would like to make it more of a thing. There's currently only one reporter character, and I would like to see more! Remember that civilians don't have to be threaded as much, and if people need ideas for news articles, I can keep a general thread for wanted IC articles.
YVELTAL Is now in Juno City. Stay tuned for updates. Jury's still out on whether or not it'll be a massive site-wide event, because I'd rather get Ceres resolved first.
DODGES Take up an attack. An attack converts into a dodge, and it is thus consumed. A dodge is an alternative attack option, not an additional one.
INFECTION CHECKS Even in scourge-free areas, at the end of a thread, make sure to roll for an infection check for each of your unvaccinated pokemon. As long as they roll less than a 90, they're safe. (If you're not safe, you have a few posts to quickly mercy kill the infected pokemon. Otherwise, you and your threading partner can either run the scourge battle yourselves, or request a mod to do it for you.)
HEALING MOVES A clarification: self-healing moves are usable once per battle. Other-people healing moves are unlimited use. Your healbot chansey is actually a useful pokemon, rather than pointless after two turns.
POISON/BURN The ruledex suggests that a pokemon faints in three turns if poisoned/burned. This assumes 1) that they're not scourge, and 2) that they're also taking damage from other attacks as the battle continues on. If you poison a full HP pokemon and then ignore it for the rest of the battle, it can easily last five turns or more.
WILD SCOURGE POKEMON More for mods than everyone else, wild scourge pokemon have four attacks. They may dodge, still consuming an action, once per turn. The multiple dodges and extra attacks you see from hades agents are agent class progression features.
Some of these changes/clarifications are up already. Otherwise, I'll be trying to get them up over the weekend.
HP AND EVA BOOSTS Clarified. HP boosts gives you immunity to ALL incoming offensive attacks. EVA boosts gives you immunity to ALL incoming defensive attacks.
VACCINE NPC Is actually a gardevoir, but hey. Sa'di's second pokemon partner, the gardevoir Vashti, is not chilling at the entrance to Di Manes. She's giving Eos participants THREE free vaccines. Like Assistant Jo and various others NPCs, this is a one-time gift meant to help starting characters get a small set of vaccinated pokemon ready for fighting the scourge.
BREEDER TWEAK Calculation for breeder breeding bonuses takes the bonus of the HAPPIER pokemon. That is, max happiness Pokemon1 (worth +5/10) and zero happiness Pokemon2 (+0/10) still results in a +5/10 bonus. It used to be the LESS happy pokemon. This change is meant to faciliate breeders using other people's pokemon, and also to make a breeder's life slightly less difficult--because it's pretty difficult already as it is.
THE SHARDS The Prism is now composed of The Shards, which are scattered throughout the region. Look for the Obsidian Shard, the Prismatic Shard, and the Blood Shard. I swear I will get these up sooner or later.
VENOM BADGE Minor edit. It used to turn 1HKO moves into 100 POW attacks. They are now 200 POW attacks. You still really want to dodge them, and they're still totally worth an attack slot for scourge pokemon and agents.
MINIMODS I am aware it's pretty late in the month to gather mod rewards, but we are pretty severely understaffed at the moment. If anybody's interested in lending a hand, please apply! Just someone to generate goodies from giveaway NPCs would be a huge help.
cassnette I would like to extend a formal apology to all the unfortunate victims of the jungle book thread. That encounter is insane and poorly designed. Sorry.
Don't bother rolling for scourge infection at the end of the thread. Just assume you had the goddamned finest luck in the universe and all your pokemon got out virus free. (Unless Nette doesn't like her pokeassist pokemon, then feel free to kill them off and get a new one.)
HADES AGENTS AND SCALING DOWN Guys, you're supposed to scale down your progression too. If you've set your pokemon's level at 10, for the love of god, don't draw legendary signs, don't dodge shit out the wazoo, don't spam five attacks per turn. Common sense, guys.
EARLY SCOURGE ENCOUNTERS This should go into the mod forum, but just as a PSA: please don't forget that vaccines are very hard to come by. Early scourge encounters, those prior to Nerio City, should be rare on their own, and they shouldn't run a serious risk of turning everything but a character's starting scourge.
ENCOUNTER DESIGN For both agents and mods, we're not actually trying to kill anybody. Keep in mind people's experience with the battle system, and note that if they call in help from other characters, your encounter might be too hard. There is a difference, after all, between challenging and fun, and just kinda toxic.
WORD COUNT BONUSES The first thing I want to say: please just carry on as usual. This change is to make posting longer, more introspective posts just as money-efficient as speed spamming. All posts in IC forums are worth $50/post by default (unchanged). Any post with over 300 words is worth $150. Any post with over 500 words is worth $300.
NEW ELITE 4??? There will probably be a contest+community poll over next month to decide on a new E4. The new E4 must be either a fairy or ice specialist. (Nenia is the ground specialist, who is poised to become the new Bacchus gym leader, and the dragon specialist is in Mors, ready to take over in case any of the nearby gym leaders die.)
