Thalia slashed the broken shard across J's throat without hesitation.

he woke up in a deserted bar in the middle of mt aurae, thalia still fast asleep by his side.

they had drank too much alcohol, hadn't they.

She rolled over on her side in the bar and opened her eyes but didn't move.

shamees's laughing face and his laughter were the last things thalia saw and heard before she woke up.

J glanced at thalia. it took a lot of effort.

"welcome back," he said, voice hoarse.

Thalia rubbed at her eyes with the heel of her palm and didn't look at J.

After a moment, though, she said: "Next time I'd rather go to Dream Scourge World."

"because shamees isn't there?"

warily, J glanced around as if waiting for shamees to pounce out from the shadows.

"No Shamees," she agreed. "No any of them. Although Nidhug was okay, I guess. If only he had killed us."

She sat up and looked blearily around for a bottle of alcohol. Her eyes lighted on a rum bottle, but it reminded her too much of the dream. She shuddered.

"he ... yeah."

J slumped against the counter.

"why am i still tired."

"Because we didn't actually ever get any rest."

Thalia yawned.

"I want a nap, but. Seems risky."

"induce a nightmare. eat some horrible takeout."

J wasn't sure if having a nightmare would mean more rest or going back to the dream world where shamees was was better. at this point, J was certain he wasn't going to wander back to the battle arena anytime soon. apparently gods used it for ragnarök practice.

Something occurred to Thalia.

"Did we ever even finish our battle? I've forgotten."

he tried to see if thalia's hair was still furiously electric pink.
