This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.

The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

it takes her five minutes to get over her initial disgust, so when she finally presses call she expects someone on the other end -- when she's directed to voicemail, she quite literally tosses her c-gear away in irritation.
... then she picks it back up again and calls a second time. delilah waits for the little beep -- and the voice message that sounds like he recorded it pre-puberty -- before reluctantly grumbling, "if you're in the area, get your ass to pal park."
she hangs up immediately afterward with a vehemence, shoving the c-gear in her pocket. half of her hopes he'll show up -- the other half of her hopes he won't.
you wouldn't believe his face when he heard that message. it wasn't exactly excited, it wasn't exactly happy. more of a smirk really. still, seeing delilah entertained him- that's all that really mattered to elias these days.
he dismounted his mandibuzz and returned it to it's pokeball. there she was, delilah delacroix in the flesh. he stared at for a moment before letting her know he had arrived. "well hello there." he says, a content and smug look on his face. "i heard that you needed me," he taunts, walking around to her side.

she narrowed her eyes at him when he landed, strutting to her side with all the cockiness she'd come to expect from him. "don't get cocky," she snapped back, rolling her eyes. "i just need your pokemon."
you'd think after months of antagonizing each other they'd be tired of it, but apparently not. (and if someone insinuated that they were friends, delilah would have broken their nose.)
"... we need pal park." the admission was begrudging, because she knew he'd take the fact that she called him and run away with it. he'll never let her live it down.
she was tempted to ask about his arm and leg, but then that might be showing concern -- and hell if she was going to give elias that, too.
he doesn't hate her. heck, he doesn't even dislike her. elias feels quite apathetic towards delilah- but he's convinced that she hates him. he's only acting in self-defense. still, the whole ordeal of rivalry was quite silly.
"and who raised those pokemon?" he looks at her, eyes alive for only a moment before he sighs and drops the teasing act. "i know." elias mumbles, looking around the pal park. "it's absurd that we haven't already fixed this problem."

There are hundreds upon thousands of scourge of pokemon, and Pal Park is overrun with them. Many of them are dangerous, but few of them as dangerous as the Voracious Eater. Called Calo when it was a trainer's prize, it lost a battle to the scourge, and it joined them.
It wasn't alone. Two slurpuffs danced about the old steelix, feasting on its discarded prey, like a pack of hounds eating scraps from the table.

The Voracious Eater was not one of the mindless scourge. Its mind was sharp and canny like any arena fighter that survived for long. Its disease hadn't dulled its wits.
The Voracious Eater didn't think too highly of its two attendants, but the slurpuffs were smart enough. They were wise to follow in the steelix's shadow.
